CUSTOMS FOR THE KID: THE ACTION FIGURE INDEX

We had to make a big change to the blog so it remained functional. It was an unfortunate change, but we had pushed the blogger interface to its limits. Originally, we designed the blog with picture links to older posts in our sidebar, but the interface no longer allowed us to add any more links there and future action figure creations would have had to been left off of our directory. As a work around, we took all off those picture links in our sidebar and replaced it with just one link that brought you to all of the others. You will still have the ability to click on the image and it will bring you to the older posts just like it used to, but now these links will be available on a separate page and will no longer be available on our main page. Hopefully, you will all still want to explore as much as you used to. Please feel free to leave comments in regard to this change below.

Custom Action Figure News - Episode 20: Psyclone Customs (Part II)

Well things don't always go as planned and sometimes machines do not work properly either. Psyclones Customs was the latest guest to be interviewed on the podcast, but unfortunately equipment malfunctioning prevented the entire show from being recorded. The 1st half of the episode was salvaged and Scott just finished up the second round to finish the job. Listen and enjoy. This one's a must listen!

YAKFACE SECRET SANTA

Ever since we started creating custom Star Wars action figures, we have been participating in the Secret Santa exchange that is held every year over at Yakface.com. Not only is it a great way to get into the spirit of Christmas, but it is also a great way for customizers to acquire each others works of art. This year our Secret Santa was none other than talented customizer Darth Phantom from Germany and he sent us some super cool action figures this year.

So what's the deal with this event, and how does it work?

Well if you wanted to get involved, you must have been a registered forum member prior to September 1, 2011 to be eligible. They do not want to risk anyone signing up for this just to get a free custom from another forum member and not fulfill their end of the deal. In early October, 2011 we were contacted via email with the information of another Yakface forum member who was also participating. Then we made a custom figure for that person and mailed it to them in time for Christmas. The deadline to sign up was 11:59 AM CST, on October 1, 2011. So obviously the ship has sailed if you wanted to get involved, but hopefully this post will be an incentive for you all to become forum members if you aren't already so you all can participate next year.

SECRET SANTA CUSTOMS
created by
DARTH PHANTOM

Our favorite in the bunch is this Jedi created by Darth Phantom.

His beard reminded us a lot of Jedi Master Jorus C'baoth.

This Hoth Han Solo created by Darth Phantom is super cool.

I love the knife attached to right arm of this 501st Clone trooper created by Darth Phantom.

He'll fit in great with my army of 501st troopers.

THANKS DARTH PHANTOM!!!

"SECRET SANTA CUSTOMS"
created by DARTH DADDY

Hoth Rebel Soldier

A good portion of this figure was created using the body of the CW Plo Koon in Snow Gear action figure and the head we obtained through Slayer Design Studios.

SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Jedi Knight

The head was from a VOTC Endor Rebel Soldier that had hair from a G.I. Joe Doctor action figure. The hair was modified with Apoxie Sculpt.

The beard was also done with Apoxie Sculpt.

SKILL LEVEL: ADVANCED

Mara Jade in Imperial Officer uniform.

When Dad created this action figure he used the body of Juno Eclipse and the head of a Dark Woman that he repainted to look like a young Mara Jade in a Imperial uniform. Dad knew that the ranking probably wasn't at all accurate, but considering she sometimes wore disguises to eliminate vocal adversaries within the Empire, Dad figured it wasn't too big a stretch.

SKILL LEVEL: BEGINNER

Here are some of the previous Secret Santa entries from prior years.

Twi'lek Slythmonger

This Twi'lek was a medical student on Coruscant with classmate Elan Sel'Sabagno and he peddled a highly powerful and sought after hallucinogen that he himself created for the clientele of gangster Hat Lo. He was later arrested and spent a considerable amount of time being incarcerated on the Imperial prison barge the Purge. Fortunately for him he was released before the events chronicled in Joe Schreiber's novel Death Troopers.

To create this action figure, Dad reshaped and resculpted a head from some fodder that we had. Dad changed the slope of the head, and added a brow. He also smoothed several rough edges that were found along the head and filled in several cracks and holes that the head had with some Apoxie Sculpt. He then repainted the head and placed it on a CW El-Les action figure body that he also repainted.

Twi'lek Slythmonger

The green vials contained the creation of the Twi'lek slythmonger. He could be found selling them in the Outlander Club on Coruscant.

Dad's Twi'lek Slythmonger was featured on the front page of Imperial Shipyards.

N-5VL SURVIVAL DROID

N-5VL was a Noah class protocol droid and he was designed with more in mind than just providing his services as a translator. These protocol droids were used in exploration throughout remote regions not yet explored. They were the most advanced protocol droids available. Their construction was made from the finest materials. Designed with endurance and durability in mind. And when it came to their programming, these droids contained all the knowledge of the known galaxy. These droids were known for being noble warriors that were greatly affected by the information they contained.

This droid was also known to be a favorite companion among those fearful of future apocalyptic times. Of course, you would need a substantial amount of credits at your disposal to have one. Not a lot of these droids were made, but an exact number for the amount produced is not known.

Helix88 Added to "Customs I Wish I Owned"

Twenty-three year old customizer Helix88 from Utah is one cool artist. He sports some of the coolest paint applications you'll see in the Star Wars custom action figure world. He has been customizing for over two years now and he has created some really well executed pieces of art. But don't take our word for it, check it out yourself. We're sure you'll be impressed.

Custom Action Figure News - Episode 20: Psyclone Customs (1st Half)

Well things don't always go as planned and sometimes machines do not work properly either. Psyclones Customs was the latest guest to be interviewed, but unfortunately equipment malfunctioning prevented the entire show from being recorded. The 1st half of the episode was salvaged and Scott has already agreed to go another round to finish the job. It might turn out to be a blessing in disguise as he will probably end up with another hour long show and Shawn will get to ask him more in depth about some things we could not get to due to time. Listen and enjoy as Scott talks about scratch building with styrene and his awesome commandos and so on.
