"ROTJ EWOK" created by Darth Daddy

This was a quick custom thanks to an awesome headcast we purchased from I-AM-BOBA-FETT aka Riff Valley Designs. All we had to do to make this figure was add the headcast that we painted to the Vintage Collection Lumat action figure and fabricate some chest armor from some dried wood we had in fodder.  With about an hour or two of work we had one nice looking Ewok to add to our Endor display.

"Ownellco" created by Darth Daddy

Ownellco was a male Lutrillian who lived during the Galactic Civil War. In 0 BBY, he was standing near the bar in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina, chatting with the Qiraash female Leesub Sirln, on the day that Obi-Wan Kenobi and Luke Skywalker chartered Han Solo and the Millennium Falcon for passage to Alderaan.

The head I used was a heavily modified cast that was originally created by I-AM-BOBA-FETT of Riff Valley Designs.  The Lutrillian head cast I used for my Ownellco was of the character of Solomahal as he appeared in the Star Wars Holiday Special.  The version of the character that I wanted to make was the second Lutrillian that had appeared in the cantina of Star Wars: A New Hope named Ownellco. While not a perfect match for the character I was making, the head was different enough than the head I used for "Atheloe aka The Colonel" earlier this month.  I just had to Dremel off the scarf that was part of the cast and sculpt in the bottom of his face.

The jacket was handcrafted, and the body of the figure was a 100% sculpted.  I used the Rancor Keeper body as my base figure, sanded it down and sculpted onto what remained.  I stained and modified the jacket from a Black Series Endor Han Solo. First I cut the jacket shorter, and then I created pockets from the scraps left behind.  I tried to keep the stitching wherever I could to give it a more finished look.

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT: PLNK DROID created by I-AM-BOBA FETT

A long time ago, Star Wars customizer, I-AM-BOBA-FETT, created a cool PLNK Droid that really caught our eyes.  So much so, that we wanted one for our collection.  Originally he made the action figure utilizing two old Vintage Power Droids as his base figure.  When we asked him to make a PLNK Droid for us, we asked if he could use the new Vintage Power Droid from the 3-pack so that our PLNK Droid could have a removable lid.  I-AM-BOBA-FETT did not disappoint. He was even able to provide our custom figure with all the magnetically attached accessories that were included in his original version.  We love the way our PLNK Droid came out!

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: RESIN CASTS, 3D PRINTED ACCESSORIES & PLAYSETS

Customizing action figures can be quite expensive.  Especially if you have to buy a $15 action figure and the only piece that you need is the head.  To avoid breaking the bank, advanced customizers will sometimes make a mold of the piece that they need, and then reproduce the required part with plastic cast resin. I have made a few casts of my own over the years creating things like: extra Clone Wars Chancellor Palpatine heads, Weequay pirate heads, and the lightsaber hilts for my General Pong Krell custom action figure.  Creating casts can be both cost effective and a huge time saver.

Several customizing artists have begun to sell their cast pieces to the public and their offerings are just awesome.  Over the years, I have bought cast pieces from many of these artists.

This week, I thought I'd share with you some of the artists that I have purchased from to provide you with a resource that can help you enhance your own collections and give you the ability to acquire some of these pieces for your own. From assorted head casts to accessories and full blown playsets, these guys offer it all.  Below are pictures with samples of each artists work as well as their names and links to the online stores.  I figured with tax returns coming in, I'd offer you all the opportunity to acquire some of these great items. Happy shopping!
