CLONE WARS "OLD DAKA" created by Elias

Happy Halloween!

Although this figure was finished over the weekend, we felt it would be best to post a Nightsister witch today, due to her ghoulish ability to raise the dead. "Massacre" was one of the most action packed episodes from The Clone Wars TV series due to the sorcery of Old Daka. When we saw the episode for the first time, this character was immediately on our radar as a character we knew we needed to make as an action figure. We only wish it didn't take us so long to get to her, but now that she is done, we couldn't be happier!

Daka, also known as Old Daka, was an elderly Nightsister who lived on Dathomir during the Clone Wars. Mother Talzin regarded her as the "oldest and wisest" member of the Nightsisters. Daka was skilled in many magicks, including the ability to resurrect the dead. Daka was killed when General Grievous stabbed her with a lightsaber during the Battle of Dathomir.[3]

This figure was a 100% sculpted action figure. A skeleton was created from a the arms and upper torso of a Clone Wars Luminara Unduli action figure, a chopped lower skirt of an AOTC Lama Su action figure and the head of a casted Clone Wars Darth Sidious action figure. Once the frame was assembled ProCreate was used to sculpt onto the skeleton to create the likeness of Old Daka.

"NIGHTSISTER ASSASSIN" created by Elias

I couldn't let Dad have all the "Nightsister" fun. I wanted to take a crack at it too, so I grabbed the head of a Jedi Leia, a CW Nightsister torso and arms, and the legs of that super expensive Clone Wars Ahsoka Tano that goes for about a $100.00 on ebay.  I took feathers that Dad cut off of another Nightsister figure he had turned into a Mother Talzin, and glued the feathers to the belt of the CW Ahsoka.  The swords I got from some G.I. Joe fodder.

She's definitely my favorite custom that I've done.

NIGHTSISTER ACTION FIGURES: MOTHER TALZIN, NIGHTSISTER VENTRESS & MORE

So tomorrow is my birthday.  This year Dad went all out and created these four Star Wars custom action figures as my gift.  I saw him working hard for the past few weeks trying to get them done on time, but they really came together in those final moments.  I just love these figures, with their various alternating heads and cool homemade accessories.  Dad even created a Dooku Voodoo doll to go with his Mother Talzin. I want to thank my mom for sewing the soft goods for Mother Talzin's dress.

MOTHER TALZIN

Mother Talzin was the Dathomirian leader of the Nightsister clans of witches before and during the Clone Wars.  A Dathomirian female, Talzin was a member of the Nightsisters prior to the Clone Wars. While birthing her first daughter, Talzin was struck with a fatal affliction, but was enlightened by the spirits of her culture and survived the incident. She subsequently became a shaman of the Nightsisters and eventually united the various Nightsister covens following the death of Mother Zalem in 31 BBY. Whereas previously, competing Nightsister covens had been ruled by a clan mother and a shaman, Talzin, holding both titles, was able to unite her warring people into a single coven, which thrived into the time of the Clone Wars. Talzin's coven also had a close relationship with a clan of Nightbrothers.

NIGHTSISTER VENTRESS

Return to the Nightsisters

During the Battle of Sullust, Ventress led Separatist droid forces against Skywalker's and Kenobi's forces in her Fanblade starfighter. Though she destroyed Skywalker's flagship, the Resolute, Darth Sidious sensed Ventress growing more powerful in the dark side of the Force and ordered Dooku, despite his objections, to eliminate her. Dooku ordered the T-series tactical droid, TJ-912 to destroy the command ship with Ventress, Skywalker and Kenobi on board, and when the scans revealed no survivors, she was presumed to be dead.

Home again on Dathomir

Unknown to Dooku, Ventress survived and was rescued by a scavenger ship called the Raider. She asked them to take her to Dathomir, killing the pirates when they refused, and took the ship to Dathomir. At first she was not recognized by the Nightsisters until Mother Talzin took her in for treatment. There she was treated with Sith magic and had flashbacks of her past with Ky Narec up to his death, her first meeting with and betrayal by Count Dooku. It was here Ventress vowed vengeance on Dooku.

Mother Talzin sent Ventress and Nightsisters Naa'leth and Karis to take revenge on the Sith Lord, and gave them the ability to be invisible and a poison to dull his senses. When they made it to Serenno, they managed to infiltrate Dooku's palace. Though they gave him the poison via a dart to his neck, Dooku was able to defeat Ventress and her fellow Nightsisters with Force lightning and fling them out of his palace. Though Ventress failed in this attempt, Talzin assured her that Dooku would be asking them for a new assassin and apprentice, Savage Opress, the brother of Tyranus's predecessor, Darth Maul.

Opress was at first a promising pawn in plan for vengeance on the Count, but after his training with Dooku and his failed mission to Toydaria, Ventress came, surprising the Count and reasserting her control over Opress, but even with the two apprentices fighting side by side, they were not strong enough to defeat the Count. Dooku attacked both Ventress and Opress with Force lightning to incapacitate them, and Ventress' growing impatience at Opress' inability to hold his own caused him to betray her as well, attempting to Force choke both her and Dooku. Later, as Opress fought against Skywalker and Kenobi, Ventress and Dooku engaged each other once more. Just as Dooku was about to kill Ventress, she blinded Dooku and fled to an escape pod.

She arrived on Dathomir, and agreed to lay down her Sith allegiance to once again join the Nightsisters, and track down and kill Dooku. She underwent a Rebirth Ritual and took her place in the order of the Nightsisters. Dooku promptly sent GeneralGrievous, along with a platoon of droids to locate Ventress and finally destroy her. After a battle between Grievous' forces and the Nightsisters, and a one on one battle between the general and Ventress, in which she was wounded, Dooku, fearing death from magic of Mother Talzin called off the search for Ventress and instead ordered the annihilation of the Nightsisters, to which Grievous complied. Ventress meanwhile fled the planet under the urging of Mother Talzin's spirit telling her that she was the last survivor of the order.

NIGHTSISTERS

The Nightsisters were a sect of the Witches of Dathomir who embraced the usage of dark arts within their Force-driven Magicks. The Nightsisters were originally members of other witch clans who began to utilize the dark side in defiance of the light-sided orthodoxy found in the Book of Law—the governing holy text of the Dathomiri. These witches adopted a shamanistic culture that rejected the notion of "good" and "evil", and instead chose to call upon the twin energies of the Winged Goddess and the Fanged God in order to utilize their Magicks and communicate with the spirit realm. They focused extensively on the art of casting Force illusions through "illusion spells." Witches found guilty of practicing these heretical techniques were banished into Dathomir's wilderness and left for dead. However, in the final decades of the Galactic Republic's reign, the exiled witch Gethzerion used her superior powers to unite the wandering outcasts into a new clan—the Nightsisters.

Operating under a revised holy text known as the Book of Shadows, these sorceresses used their powerful connection to Dathomir's untamed wilds to terrorize their fellow clans and fight for dominance over the planet. Although the witches had designs for galactic dominance, they were largely confined to their own world, as the Jedi Order maintained active interdiction of the planet. The Nightsisters themselves were divided into various competing clans of their own until approximately 32 BBY, when Clan mother Zalem attempted to use Dathomir's legendary Infinity Gate to destroy Coruscant, the capital world of the Galactic Republic. After the plot was foiled and Zalem was killed by her daughter, the numerous clans of Nightsisters were united into a single coven by the shaman Mother Talzin. During the Clone Wars, the Nightsisters came to the forefront of galactic notoriety when Talzin transformed her people into a mercenary society that trained in combat and Magick so that their services as bodyguards, assassins, and soldiers could be sold to off-world bidders.

The time of relative prosperity would come to an end when the clan was drawn in the Clone Wars when Talzin tried to eliminate Count Dooku with former Sister Asajj Ventress, but their assassination attempt failed. Sending General Grievous and a Confederacy of Independent Systems army to Dathomir, Dooku assaulted the Nightsisters' Fortress. The ensuing battle resulted in the near-extermination of the Nightsisters, though enough survivors remained for the Nightsisters to eventually resume their dominant position in Dathomir's affairs.

UNDEAD NIGHTSISTER HEAD
created by Darth Daddy

During the Battle of Dathomir, Nightsister leader Mother Talzin has Old Daka summon an army of dead Nightsister warriors to fight against the Separatist droid army led by General Grievous. The undead Nightsisters turned the tide of battle, allowing former Dark Acolyte Asajj Ventress to fight Grievous directly.

However, when Grievous was overpowered by Ventress, he ordered his droids to begin firing on the Nightsisters. Ventress was injured, but the undead army then began to attack Grievous. This undead Nightsister managed to jump on the general's back, but he managed to grab her and tore off her arms and threw her to the ground. Grievous then stabbed her with one of his Lightsaber, but since she was undead, she rose up again. In the end, once the Separatists killed Old Daka, her spells faded and the undead Nightsisters died again.

Dad created an UnDead Nightsister head too.
