CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT UPDATE: "Custom Star Wars Action Figure Displays" by thecardboardgalaxy

Quite some time ago, we came across some very cool custom Star Wars action figure displays  on eBay.  We thought that they were the perfect backgrounds to display the custom action figures that we make for the blog. It was then that we learned about the Star Wars custom artist that went by the name thecardboardgalaxy.  We received our first three backgrounds in the mail and were so impressed with the products being offered, we buy his new displays every chance we get. Check out our most recent acquisitions below of Han Solo's Eravana corridor, Ach To, and Jedha displays.

If you want to catch the eyes of your peers, a nice background is key to your overall presentation, even if it is just a clean solid background color. We highly recommend these displays to custom action figure artists that want to display their finished action figure art in all its glory.  If you spend hours working on a figure it deserves a good photoshoot with a nice background to complement it. Good backgrounds are something we can't stress enough to artists just starting out.

"WED-9-M1" created by Elias

Hole In The Ground Productions has a new droid kit available on their web store full of great resin cast pieces made to enhance your dioramas and display shelves.  Their latest WED-9 is a fun day project that only requires some paint, sandpaper and krazy glue. I first sanded down any small imperfections in the cast, then primed the figure in black paint before I dry brushed in some color. After, I applied multiple washes to give the droid the "used" look.

When everything was completely painted, I glued on the head and arms to finish up the figure.  He looks great on display along with the other figures found in our Mos Eisley street display.

WED-9-M1, also known as a bantha droid, was a WED Treadwell droid seen around Mos Eisley. Built out of spare parts by Jawas, it was owned by Ohwun and Chachi De Maal.

COMING SOON - TUSKEN RAIDER DIORAMA TUTORIAL

So Customs for the Kid have been hard at work all week creating content for our blog. Dad has been working on a new Clone Wars action figure for a future episode of "Customizing The Clone Wars", and I have been venturing into some new territory by tackling my first ever Star Wars diorama piece.  I had a school assignment where I had to document my journey as I adopted a new skill. Since I have been making custom Star Wars action figures for 7 years now, I figured it was time that I tried to make my first diorama. The best part about this assignment was that I decided to do a step by step video of my entire process from start to finish.  I put so much work into the video that I decided I would share the tutorial with all of you once it is completed. In the video, I cover the build of the Sandpeople hut complete with interior details, the creation of the desert environment, and how to use LED's and a glue gun to create fire effects.  I'm almost done with the video editing so stay tuned for the release of my video and pictures of the completed project!

Next, for your viewing pleasure, we have some new items from Hole In The Ground Productions. We have featured multiple items from this store in the past. We always look forward to their new offerings and their latest releases sure don't disappoint!

Archway

This archway matches the height of their other wall panels and 7.5" wide. It is 1/4" thick and not free standing.

$15

Starship Doorway

The Starship Doorway is the same width as the Starship (center column) wall. The doorway comes with decals.

The Starship door is made to fit on the doorway. It does not rest on the same level so it must be glued into place.

If you want to use the doorway at the end of a corridor, it would make the corridor narrow, so for a wider corridor, they have wall extensions.

$15 Doorway

$6 Starship Door

$5 Wall Extensions

Debris piece

This construct can be used for almost anything. (perhaps a stadium for a flea circus!) Unlike their other kits that are resin cast, this item includes two pieces of cut PVC tube and a series of precision cut interlocking plastic parts. The assembled part is 4.5" diameter and 1.5" tall.

$20

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT #47: "Custom Star Wars Action Figure Displays" by thecardboardgalaxy

Recently on eBay we came across some very cool custom Star Wars action figure displays.  We picked up all three that were available and then today noticed thecardboardgalaxy added five more unique displays to the store as well.  We already received our first three in the mail and were so impressed with the products being offered, we purchased all five of his new displays as well.
