CUSTOMS FOR THE KID: CHRISTMAS HAUL 2013

This is what was under my Christmas tree this year. Every Christmas is a Star Wars Christmas here at home. You can't really see everything I received in this video. I got waves 1-3 of the Black Series. The new Vintage X-wing for Biggs is pretty buried, as well as my LEGO Jabba's Palace and LEGO Rancor Pit. You also can't see my full Dark Times library, but most everything else is visible. The big blue round ball is a Death Star mold for ice or chocolate. The Clone Wars custom action figures were all made by Peakob1 Custom Creations, except for the Clone Officer who was made by Wraithnine Customs and the Trench created by MasterCloner. All the realistic figures were made by Marcus Starkiller, except the Roan Fel who was created by Hunter Knight Customs. I'll do a second post for the custom Star Wars action figures later so you can learn more about them and see them all in greater detail.  See if you can spot the Colin Hobbs action figure created by Colins Customs who visited our gift opening festivities Christmas morning while on his World tour.

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT #36: JediStyle

JediStyle not only has one of the coolest monikers in the Star Wars customizing community, but he also has creativity and skill that fits his name. This Southern California customizer was one of the first artists that really caught Dad's eye when we first started making our own figures and posting in the Yakface forums. Dad has long admired JediStyle's creative character creations, and his ability to apply paint with such beautiful contrasts and colors that REALLY pop.  JediStyle has a great eye for color and he's one of the best painters in the Star Wars custom action figure community. We just love this customizer's imagination and his creations are a testament to how far reaching it is. There is so much to appreciate in every unique piece.

JediStyle took some time off from the hobby. Fortunately, he's back now and still has the ability to unhinge jaws.

Recently JediStyle, sent Dad a message, and asked Dad if he could commission him to make a custom Star Wars action figure.   Since Dad was always such a huge fan of JediStyle's work, Dad immediately asked if they could do a figure swap as payment.  For the figure swap they both agreed to create either a bounty hunter or a Jedi for each other, and then mail it when they were finished.

Dad didn't feel like he had any good Jedi fodder, at least not at the level to reach his standards. Which meant that Dad would be making a bounty hunter.  At first Dad was going to try and create some crazy alien bounty hunter, but after seeing JediStyle's Mandalorian series, Dad noticed that there were no female Mandalorians on display.  That's when Dad decided that instead of doing an alien bounty hunter, he was going to create a female bounty hunter, a Steam Punk Mandalorian

Dad shipped his creation out early this month and two weeks ago we received our figure from JediStyle.  Just instead of one figure, JediStyle sent us TWO figures!  Two figures AND a diorama!  He sent a figure for me and a figure for Dad.  I can't tell you how excited I was.  As thanks, I'm going to create a figure for him so he can have a figure from me and one from Dad.

The diorama is just beautiful.  The colors in the background are so rich.  I LOVE IT!  We're sure you will too.

"Mosep Binneed" created by Darth Daddy

This was a really quick custom action figure Dad made while I worked on a custom Tawss Khaa action figure.  We got two head casts in the mail that were created by Star Wars customizer I-AM-BOBA-FETT that we used with some Imperial officer action figures to create the Nimbanel Cantina aliens.  I'll probably post my Tawss Khaa very soon, but here is the Mosep Binneed Dad made.  I'm loving how much my Cantina diorama is growing this year.  I added seven Cantina aliens to my collection since summer started.  I may try to add a few more throughout 2014.

"MOSEP BINNEED"
created by Darth Daddy

Mosep Binneed was a Nimbanel accountant who served Jabba Desilijic Tiure. Like most of his species, Binneed entered a bureaucratic profession and worked for the Hutts, eventually ending up on Tatooine during the early Galactic Civil War. Operating out of Mos Eisley spaceport on Tatooine in the Outer Rim, Binneed managed the finances of crime lord Jabba the Hutt to the best of his efforts, along with a number of other accountants, many of whom were also Nimbanese. He was present in Chalmun's Spaceport Cantina in 0 BBY when Obi-Wan Kenobi attacked Ponda Baba with a lightsaber

After the death of Binneed's superior, Lhojugg, Binneed took charge of Jabba's financial affairs and was based in the Hutt's town house. He had many informants and contacts in the organizations of Jabba's criminal rivals, and he used their information to disrupt the competitors' flow of funding. However, he knew that Jabba would have no hesitation to end his life if he failed in his tasks, and Binneed was constantly in fear of such a fate. He had many underlings, though some of them wished to work against Jabba, mismanaging his books and seeking to leave his employ.

Dad's Mosep Binneed was featured on the front page of Imperial Shipyards.

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT UPDATE: MARCUS STARKILLER

Dad recently picked up Marcus Starkiller's custom "Ultimate" Durge action figure for me.  The action figure was beautifully constructed by Star Wars customizer Marcus Starkiller who incorporated the best elements from all of the Durge action figures that were released by Hasbro.  I had all three of Hasbro's releases, but after seeing Marcus Starkiller's awesome creation, my three figures are all obsolete.  His action figure sports full articulation and a removable helmet featuring the detailed headsculpt from the Comic Pack release.  Durge even fit well on the speeder bike I had in my collection.  This is definitely the best version of Durge I have ever seen committed to plastic.

Marcus Starkiller also sent along a few extra Star Wars custom action figures with this figure when it shipped.  We'll try and post those too once we have the chance to take some more photos.
