VINTAGE SUPER-ARTICULATED EPISODE VI DARTH VADER

Parental Supervision Required. Take the upper torso of the Episode VI Darth Vader with removable helmet and swap it with the Vintage Darth Vader with the ball jointed hips and call it a day.  I boiled both figures in hot water, and then when the plastic the figures are made of got soft enough, I swapped the torsos.  Figures will be hot and you can definitely burn yourself.  I advise letting the excess water completely drain off the soft goods before attempting to touch the figure even with your oven mitts on.

I like this project because it takes only a few minutes to create.  Nothing like a quick No Paint Kit Bash to get a super pose-able Vader with the Sebastian Shaw likeness.

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: STRONOX

Darth Daddy's Customizing Corner featured Star Wars artist Stronox in the latest Customizing Corner over at The Star Wars Underworld.

Stronox is very well known in customizing circles for his super realistic paint applications.  He easily falls within my top three favorite Star Wars customizers of all-time.  Stronox and I go way back to when I first started writing the Customs for the Kid blog.  He's one of the first friends I made in the Star Wars customizing community.  As an owner of his art, I can tell you now that the figures look even better in person than they do in photos (and the photos are amazing in their own right).

If you ever find that you want to explore another custom action figure blog besides the one I've been writing for the last few years, I highly recommend visiting the blog of Stronox. Every figure he creates maximizes the figure's articulation, and the paint applications are to die for. Anyone who geeks out over action figures would love his work.  He recently started to take commissions on a full-time basis so if you have been wanting to add a special figure to your collection, look no further.  This is the guy you want to make your figure.  He's one of the best artisans I've come across since I started archiving the work of Star Wars custom action figure artists.

"ORDER 66 CLONE TROOPER in JEDI DISGUISE" created by ELIAS

Imperial Shipyards announced their first custom challenge for the New Year! The idea is to get everyone thinking about what parts look good together without painting anything. This is open to any toy line and any scale you choose. The best part is that you can enter up to ten figures! The No Paint Kit Bash contest has always had a lot of participants and stands to be one fun event.  Click on through and read the full details and see what fabulous prizes await.  Dad already entered a figure the night the contest started.  He made a quick generic Clone Wars Weequay pirate for Hondo's gang to get things rolling.

This is my first entry.  I saw this picture of a Clone Trooper in Jedi disguise hunting the Force sensitive after Order 66 and wanted to add the Jedi Hunter to my collection.  I used a Clone Trooper head I had in fodder, cut off the neck and Dad drilled the head out so it would fit on a peg.  I used the head on a Vintage Obi-Wan Kenobi so the figure had maximum pose-ability.   He took me less than 10 minutes to make.
