The Clone Wars: The Lost Missions - "Yoda" Custom Action Figure created by ELIAS

Completing my first sculpted figure was a real milestone in my development as an artist. It made me feel like I was more a part of the customizing community now that I could participate in conversations about sculpting with some experience behind me. Prior to making this figure, I had only observed my dad sculpt action figures. Dad gave me this project feeling it would be a great introductory lesson on sculpting for me. Dad said that he first practiced his sculpting technique by creating hair on action figure heads before he attempted more advanced techniques.

To sculpt the hairstyle on the matured Yoda character model, I used Green Stuff. When my sculpt hardened and dried, a grey prime coat was applied to the sculpt and then black washes were used on the recesses while white paint was dry brushed to the raised areas of the sculpt.

SKILL LEVEL: ADVANCED

The original Yoda character model pictured above was released by Hasbro as a toy.  The second Yoda character model is pictured below it and never was released as a toy.  I modified the action figure made by Hasbro to create Yoda as he was depicted in the later seasons of The Clone Wars TV series so I had both versions of the Jedi Master.

"CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT" UPDATED: Peakob1 - "SUGI" Custom Action Figure

For the last few years, I have been working together with Star Wars customizer Peakob1, as well as a few others to create Elias an incredibly unique Clone Wars action figure collection. So far, his bookshelf currently features a lot of fan-favorite characters that were not released by Hasbro in their Clone Wars action figure line before it was discontinued last year.  Many fans were disappointed when the line ended and a lot of the characters we grew to love over the years were never released as action figures.  Even though we won't be seeing any future episodes or toys from the show, the Customs for the Kid blog will still be showing you all the coolest Clone Wars creations out there today as we add to the collection.

Peakob1's latest masterpiece is his Clone Wars "Sugi" action figure.  This beautifully sculpted work of art is complimented with a gorgeous paint application.  I own a lot of custom action figures by Peakob1 and this action figure is by far one of his all-time best creations.

This is a bounty hunter action figure I think we all would have wanted in our collections, and I can easily see her being heavily requested on Fan's Choice lists for years to come.  If she ever does get a release by Hasbro, it needs to come with her ship!

DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: CloneTroopr

Darth Daddy's Customizing Corner featured Star Wars customizer CloneTroopr in the latest Customizing Corner over at The Star Wars Underworld.

CloneTroopr started customizing in 2010. He aims to make figures that either Hasbro will never make (especially characters from games, books, etc., since Disney has now forbidden Hasbro from making any EU figures), has made badly, or sell for ridiculous prices online. Since his start, CloneTroopr’s learned many techniques in customizing from his fellow customizers, practice, experience, and just plain accidents. To keep the cost low, CloneTroopr’s fond of utilizing household materials to make his figures with items such as bread ties,  old pens, and otherwise recyclable plastic. CloneTroopr also loves the Knights of the Old Republic and the Old Republic video games, which is where he gets most of his customizing inspiration (he currently plays as Kavyne, Republic faction on the Harbinger server).

I recognize we haven't given enough love to the Old Republic when it comes to putting custom action figure art from these games on display, which is why we felt it was so important for us to feature CloneTroopr this week. Hope you all enjoy!

Although CloneTroopr has been asked on multiple occasions, he unfortunately doesn’t have any plans to do commission work in the in the present or near-future because of how busy he is with work (although you never know, “the future is always in motion”).

If you want to see more action figures created by CloneTroopr, be sure to check out the video slideshow of his work that I featured this week in the "Customs I Wish I Owned" post over at the Customs for the Kid blog.
