"SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY" THERMOCULUS KRISINTVOLT SCISSORPUNCH painted by "Customs for the Kid" (3-D print model created by Angry Raccoon Miniatures)

Dad grabbed this 3D print model by Angry Raccoon Miniatures so we could add one more Sabaac player to our "Solo: A Star Wars Story" action figure collection after watching the film in 3D on our home television this weekend. There are countless characters from this film that we would love to add to our collection. The character designs in the movie were fantastic, yet the action figure line for this film was drastically underserved, not even the main villain, Dryden Vos, saw a release in the 3.75" line. Dad almost added Vos to our collection instead, but he never would have had the 100% sculpted figure done in the same weekend.

We did slightly modify the sculpt of the Therm Scissorpunch action figure to incorporate the metallic accents on the left claw that were absent in the original piece. Dad then painted the base coats for the figure, and then I came in at the end to accentuate the highlights on the sculpt to complete him.

Thermoculus Krisintvolt Scissorpunch, also known simply as Therm Scissorpunch was a male Nephran from the planet Nepotis who lived in the galaxy for more than three centuries. A gambler and pirate, he became a close associate of the pirate queen Maz Kanata in the High Republic Era and defended her stake of the planet Takodana against the rival Dank Graks in a criminal turf war. Scissorpunch lived through the fall of the Republic and the rise of the Empire. His card-playing habits saw him frequent the tables of the planet Vandor, where he would play against the likes of scoundrels Lando Calrissian and Han Solo. A particularly sore loser, he relied on his fearsome appearance to intimidate his opponents. The boastful Nephran had taken steps to enhance his fighting prowess with a sharpened shank implanted in his claw, living up to the moniker that may or may not have been his true name.

"THE CLONE WARS" BOUNTY HUNTER - ASSAJ VENTRESS created by Elias of "Customs for the Kid"

I can't tell you how very proud I am of my most recent custom action figure commission. It turned out to be one of my more special creations. A few years ago I was asked to make a similar Assaj Ventress based on her appearance in the novel "Dark Disciple" based on the concept art from the unreleased Clone Wars episodes. I was very fond of that commission because she was paired with her beau Quinlan Vos. The set was recently featured at San Diego Comic Con in the Summer of 2024. The last time I made her I made molds of her lightsaber, head and Nightsister bow. Being able to just make new casts was a real time saver.  Just as I was wrapping up this commission one of my repeat customers requested that I make this very same figure. I was immediately thankful that I let my Dad talk me into molding the torso and gauntlets from this figure so we can make this figure of Assaj Ventress for our own collections one day. Now I can save even more time not ever having to sculpt the torso and gauntlets again too. The sculpt pn this figure can be extremely time consuming so streamlining the process is so helpful.

Our client provided us with the helmet sold by Syndicate Customs.

I am really excited to post this Ventress action figure a week after we finished watching "Tales of the Underworld" on May the 4th. Sorry we didn't have her ready on time.

The base of this figure was a TCW Assaj Ventress action figure and we used TCW Cad Bane elbows to add some additional articulation. Her boots were hand sculpted. In fact the entire figure was 100 % hand sculpted and then later casted for strength and flexibility. The only piece we didn't sculpt was Ventress' helmet. I used a magnet to attach the Nightsister bow to Ventress' back.

Both the bow and torso were cast in Smooth-Cast 61D to prevent breakage. The head was cast in Smooth-Cast 321.

The hand painting was the most painstaking part of the process. Her tabard took a toll on me, but I couldn't be happier with the results.

"THE CLONE WARS" WAG TOO designed and printed by Peak-OB1 Custom Creations and painted by "Customs for the Kid"

While I have been busy making non-Star Wars custom action figures for clients, Dad has been helping with making content for our blog by painting up some custom action figure prints that were sent to us by friends of ours in the custom action figure artist community. Chad Peak aka Peak-OB1 Custom Creations is one of our oldest and closest friends. You may recall our YouTube show with Peak-OB1 Custom Creations called "Customizing The Clone Wars" where we went episode by episode sharing with our audience how we went about making the unreleased characters from the show as action figures.

This great design of Wag Too and a great companion piece to his Tee Watt Kaa action figure design and print. Being able to complete the father and son set was a real treat!

We have a plenty more prints that Darth Daddy will be painting this year so don't be surprised if you see a few other designs from Chad on the blog in the future,
