Custom Action Figure News - Episode #58: DS CUSTOMS

Custom Action Figure News was joined by Darth Streams aka DS Customs and really enjoyed talking about his great custom figures. In addition CAFN really delved into the process of making your own custom cardbacks with removable bubbles from both a materials and hardware perspective, as well as the photo-editing work. Stay tuned as CAFN showcases some of Bill's great PSD templates and all the places he gets his materials from.

Here is a link to the materials and supplies used to create custom cardbacks:

Custom Action Figure News - Episode #57: Customizer Roundtable (Custom Commissions)

Lucasclones and Tamer were joined by a very esteemed panel of custom action figure artists to talk about the very controversial subject of commissioning a custom action figure project. Just what is a fair price on a custom action figure or vehicle? Custom Action Figure News aimed to cover this entire process from start to finish, including both the commissioner and the commissionee perspective. CAFN would like to thank Luke Sprywalker, Darth Daddy, and Ratfink's Customs for giving CAFN some time to talk about this.

CAFN: Episode 52 - Darksider80 of Korriban Customs

CAFN had an absolute blast last night talking with Darksider80 of Korriban Customs. They covered quite a few customizing techniques from accessorizing your figures with soft goods to the types of JOE and SW Parts that mesh well. And they even covered some of the recipes and back stories behind some of Darksider80's awesome work.

We're a big fan of this newcomer to the customizing community!  We are lucky enough to have one of his figures in our own collection.  Be sure to listen.  This artist is noteworthy and this interview shouldn't be missed.

CAFN: Episode 50 - Sith_fire30

CAFN: Episode 50 - Sith_fire30

CAFN reached a milestone when they brought back Dayton Allen aka Sith_fire30 for their 50th episode.  This was a great interview where Dayton shared some great new molding and casting products that he has discovered and shared with our hosts details on his work on the Alien action figure line that he has been working on as well as how his Star Wars custom action figure creations have been progressing along.  Sith_fire30 is still the best Star Wars customizer that we've ever seen.  Check out his awesome blog and listen to this podcast where we all get to hear from the customizer that the community truly admires. Dad's slideshow of Sith_fire30's work is still one of our most popular videos.  We definitely recommend giving it a look.

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT #27: LUCASCLONES

Lucasclones is a customizer that dives into everything. Right now he's building mini-dioramas for his custom action figures. He customizes Star Wars, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Desolation, and several other toy lines. He recently even created an H.P. Lovecraft inspired custom. He has an active Youtube channel complete with figure reviews, tutorials, and custom action figure debuts. Lucasclone's podcast has been a boon to the custom action figure community. Working with Imperial Shipyards administrator Tamer on his podcast Custom Action Figure News he made customizers accessible to their fans while getting some great tips on how to make our toys better. His recent addition of "Rountable" discusssions need to be archived for all interested in the artform. These discussions provide a free education  worth a fortune.  I can't even begin to list the many contributions Lucasclones has brought to the community.  Dad became friends with Lucasclones shortly after we appeared on CAFN.  Most of these figures from this post were the result of swaps that they have done through the years. Dad has always loved the "Eyeball" figures that Lucasclones made. They are some of Dad's favorite figures in my collection.

Lucascones needed an Ahsoka Tano head for a commission he had to do and Dad had a few extras. Dad told Lucascones he was just getting ready to paint an Ahsoka head to make a Darkside Ahsoka as she appeared in the Mortis trilogy.  When they were talking Dad mentioned that he wasn't sure if he could pull off painting the head properly.  Lucasclones said he could paint it for him and Dad sent him both heads Lucaclones way.  A short time later I received the alternate Darkside Ahsoka head from Lucasclones for the custom action figure of Ahsoka that Dad had made.
