When my client ordered Duchess Zilla, he also requested her companion, Bombardier! I recently just completed my first version of Captain Bombardier, but the client only wanted him.  Shortly after, I got the commission for both of them.  I was happy with The Duchess, and my first Bombardier, but I never got to see them together.  I am happy to finally be able to unite these two characters in action figure form.  

My recipe for Captain Bombardier was exactly the same as it was on my first version, a Movie Heroes Jek Porkins and my own original headsculpt.  The Jek Porkins was heavily altered with a Dremel and hand sculpting with Green Stuff.  This time I assembled his gold cape using a sewing machine.  It was a bit more challenging to work this small with a machine, but I feel that the final product came out faster and more durable.

While their appearance in The Mandalorian was controversial, I wanted to give this project my all.  I appreciated the opportunity to depict the more opulent side of the galaxy, and no matter how you feel about the characters, we hope you can appreciate the craftsmanship behind these action figures.

SUPER-ARTICULATED ANIMATED "STAR WARS REBELS" SEASON 1 & SEASON 3 - GARAZEB ORRELIOS aka ZEB created by Elias of "Customs for the Kid"

This was an action figure that I wanted to do for Pride Month due to an inside joke in the Star Wars Rebels fan community. If you know you know. 

To make the figure I boiled and popped the 3.75" head of a Zeb that came in a 2-pack with a Stormtrooper. Modified it so it fit to a TVC Zeb from both Season 1 and Season 2 then gave the head a custom paintjob to complete the figure.

Dad took the photos for me so I could go out with friends.

Head modification. Used a little glue from a glue gun for a nice snug fit.

At the beginning of this year, I was asked to make a 3.75" Captain Bombardier for a client.  This particular client wasn't interested in purchasing the Duchess to go along with him, but a new client, having seen what I did with that project wrote me asking to make this character a reality.

The Duchess' costume is quite dramatic and opulent which posed several challenges throughout the process of creating this character in action figure form.  The base of this figure was a Yarna D'al Gargan.  The original plastic sculpt was radically dremeled away before I started sculpting.  To reshape the torso, I sculpted with Green Stuff. 

Creating her head in Zbrush was an educational experience. The Duchess' braids required that I make a custom brush to produce her head sculpt.  I also had to create another custom sculpting brush with bevels to create the metallic components of her crown.  

The soft goods were quite challenging to get right.  I turned to an old friend, Fern from @plant_cryptid_creates on Instagram for counsel on how to get the dress pattern just right, and their insight and advice truly made this piece successful. To create the strings of jewels hanging from her sleeves, I cut a shiny silver thread to desired lengths, drilled small shallow holes into the arms, and then set each thread into the surface.

We hope you enjoy the final product as much as we do!  Keep an eye out for a new version of Captain Bombardier as well. He was just commissioned alongside this Duchess and will be coming soon.  We hope Lizzo and Jack Black like the way they look.
