"THE BAD BATCH" DEPA BILLABA & CALEB DUME created by Elias of "Customs for the Kid"

After viewing Caleb Dume and Depa Billaba's appearance in the premiere of "Star Wars: The Bad Batch", Dad and I agreed that they would both look great as action figures. So when a client approached me with this project, I just couldn't resist.

The base figure I used to make Depa Billaba was a Clone Wars Shaak Ti action figure. My client provided me with a 3-D printed headsculpt made by Watto's Scrapyard.  The braids at the back of the headcast were badly damaged when we received it in the mail so I completely resculpted what was missing. Once I had the head taken care of, I completely resculpted the Shaak Ti body with ProCreate to make the appropriate Jedi robes.

To make Caleb, I sculpted the Jedi garb onto a Clone Wars Boba Fett body as my base figure and the headsculpt on this figure was also one of Watto's.  I made the headcast a new Padawan braid out of Procreate sculpting putty so it would have more durability than the original 3D printed resin.

It'll be a bummer to see them leave the home considering we've wanted them for our own collection, but at the end of the day, I'm more than happy to bring joy to my clients as well!

"THE CHILD" painted by ELIAS

So here at home, we are not immune to all the hype surrounding The Mandalorian on Disney+. We were so excited for the show we purchased a year of the new streaming service before it even launched. Now that the app is launched we don't know if there is enough content to keep us interested in maintaining the commitment going forward. While we are certainly excited for new Star Wars content, we also learned that was the only content on the service that could keep our attention. As far as the show goes, The Mandalorian definitely delivered.

Not only did we love the look of the show, but it was a solid show on all fronts. We loved the cast, the premise and the execution.

We especially loved the introduction of "The Child" at the end of the first episode. Based on fan reception, it appears wea re not alone in our feelings on the surprise addition to the cast. Retail items are slowly trickling into stores, but are arriving at a pace a bit too slow for the collecting community. As a result, an enormous of fan made items are flooding the market.

We picked up a 3.75" scale resin cast version of the character on eBay from Watto's Scrapyard. We really like the non-articulated sculpt. We received it in the mail shortly after we placed our order and I painted him up as soon as Dad told me he made the purchase. We highly recommend picking one of these up. We also bought a second version from Asis Film Models that we will post on the blog when he is received. Until then, enjoy the new addition to our collection!
