CLONE WARS "DARTH SIDIOUS" created by Darth Daddy

This is a custom Clone Wars action figure that was inspired by TheRealMarch4th.  A few months ago I sent him a Clone Wars headcast of Palpatine that I produced and we were really floored by how he decided to use it.  He took the Darth Sidious from the Yoda 2-pack, replaced the face of the figure  with my headcast and then sculpted the hood down over the eyes.  He then took a soft goods skirt to cover those ugly Hasbro legs to finish the figure.  What an awesome idea!

On my custom figure I took what TheRealMarch4th did one step further. I borrowed elements from his recipe, and just added more articulation to the figure.  I cut everything off below his black frock (the legs and forearms) and added in articulated replacement parts. I borrowed the legs and upper torso from a Clone Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi that I bought in bulk on eBay, and swiped the forearms and brown skirt of the Vintage Darth Sidious figure for my new incarnation of Sidious. By adding these new elements, the figure now would sport ball jointed elbows, swivel wrists, a swivel waist, swivel hips, and ball jointed knees. Before completely assembling the figure, I dyed the skirt from the Vintage figure and used some black soft goods from a Darth Maul figure to create the two layers of fabric in his skirt. Yesterday, I told TheRealMarch4th about the improvements that I made to my Sidious, and he liked them so much he made the same adjustments to his own figure after we spoke.

Any Star Wars fan who watched The Clone Wars episode "Lawless" knows that this version of Darth Sidious needed to be made!

CANTINA_SCUM ADDED TO "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"

Lately, there are a large number of Star Wars custom action figure artists displaying their work on Instagram, and there is where I found the latest artist to be added to our "Customs I Wish I Owned" page, CANTINA_SCUM.  The artist's customs remind me of figures I used to see in the Yakface Forums when I first started customizing myself, back when there were an abundance of super-articulated figures on shelves and a plethora of parts to choose from.  Fan fiction customs were everywhere to be found in those times and new creative creations could be found around every corner.  Then the 5poa figures started to dominate the collection and well, beautiful figures like CANTINA_SCUM's started to disappear and weren't as prominent as they once were.  His builds totally tap into some nostalgia for the good ole' days here at home reminding us of artists like Chewie, Incom aka Mr. Black's Customs and Dan of the Dead.  We really are excited to see more customs from this artist in the years to come.

Peak-OB1 Custom Creations & Darth Daddy of Customs for the Kid recap Season One of "Customizing The Clone Wars".

"Customs for the Kid" Celebrates 6 Years of Blogging

Another year behind us. It is hard to believe that we have been writing this blog for so long now. Thursday marked the six year anniversary of "Customs for the Kid". Here at home, we still can't believe we have accomplished as much as we have during these years. Our collection is ever growing, new artists are still being added to our archives, and we are still making Star Wars custom action figures every chance we get. Audience growth has been a slow and steady climb, but from what we can tell, we have been able to maintain our audience while continually adding new viewers. We can't thank you enough for all your interest in what we do. We hope we will be here for many years to come, and that all of you will be right here with us.
