"THE PREQUELS STRIKE BACK: A Fan's Journey" - Star Wars Documentary

Usually we only do posts relating to Star Wars custom action figures, but we enjoyed this film so much we had to give it a plug. This film was packed full of great commentary and information on what The Prequels were truly about. I grew up on the OTC and I never understood, or agreed with all the venomous hatred for the Prequel Trilogy. My sincere hope is that after viewing, George Lucas will be vindicated and receive the praise he has rightfully deserved. A must see for true Star Wars fans!

GEONOSIAN QUEEN - "KARINA THE GREAT" created by Customs for the Kid

This character took over 24 hours to build and bring into toy form.  First we sculpted a skeleton of styrofoam, then covered it in air dry clay, sealed it in a 50/50 Elmer's glue/spackle mix before we sculpted in all the fine details and finally painted her in time for Episode 20 of "Customizing The Clone Wars".

Darth Daddy built the styrofoam skeleton and Elias helped him lay clay down on the frame and established the form. Elias then fabricated her necklace and tabard from ProCreate, and then Darth Daddy went back and sculpted in the fine details on those pieces after he sculpted out the crown. Then Elias painted the abdomen while Darth Daddy painted the thorax and the figure itself. Elias finished the paint on her necklace and tabard as Darth Daddy finished painting the crown.  The different stages of the build are all illustrated in the latest episode of "Customizing The Clone Wars."

Now we have a great display piece to go along with all of our Zombie Geonosian action figures!

FROM LEMON TO LEMONADE - THE BLACK SERIES 3.75" "ENDOR HAN SOLO"

We can't deny that when we first heard that Hasbro planned to release a repack of the Endor Han Solo in The Black Series Wal-mart exclusive line, a few unfavorable words might have been said in their direction.  Immediately, we thought the company was unloading all their warehouse overstock at an exorbitant cost to their consumers.  Now, while that certainly could still be the case in this instance, we did our best to take a bad situation and still make the most of it. Truth be told, using this action figure for customizing fodder helped us add a few characters to our collection that we had always really wanted and his release ended up becoming a blessing in disguise.

We used the camouflage jacket from Han Solo to make the jackets for both Atheloe and Ownellco. We shortened all the legs and arms of the figure to create the body for Rycar Ryjerd.  These were all much desired characters we wanted to add to our Mos Eisley Cantina display.

We were even able to articulate our Force Awakens Han Solo action figure by using the arms and upper torso of the Endor figure.

All in all, we sheepishly admit that we are really happy this figure was released after all.  Without his release we would have missed out on four figures we have really grown to love seeing on our collection shelves.
