Super-Articulated "8D8 aka Atedeeate" Action Figure created by Elias

Last month I was checking out the Facebook page of Colins Customs and I saw him super-articulate an 8D8 droid with the arms and legs of a Build A Droid BG-J38 from the old Legacy B.A.D. collection.  I thought it would be a cool project to tackle since I had the spare parts laying around.  I asked Dad to help me modify the legs so that I could add the pistons from the old 5 POA 8D8 figure from the POTF line and add the pistons to my B.A.D. legs.  Once Dad finished the modifications for me, I painted the figure.  Now not only does he have the original swivel shoulders and neck, but he also now has ball jointed hips, as well as added articulation in his elbows, knees, and ankles.

"Originally designed for work in ore extraction facilities, 8D8 and other members of his series were strong, solid, and simple.  At some point, he was modified to serve as a starship maintenance droid

Following EV-9D9's migration to Jabba's Palace's on Tatooine in Cyborg Operations, 8D8 was completely reprogrammed to serve as a dedicated torturer of both droids, and organics.
Despite his programming, 8D8 retained a secret dislike for his sadistic taskmaster, EV-9D9.

Around 4 ABY, during the time that Rebels came to rescue Han Solo from Jabba, 8D8 was following EV-9D9's order by torturing a GNK power droid with a mechanical smelting device that featured a hot glowing iron." - from Wookiepedia.

I'm really glad I had the time to submit one more entry in the Yakfinities #52: Jabba's Entourage contest over at Yakface.com before it comes to a close.

Colin Hobbs of Bedwas, Wales is, hands down, the most prolific customizer of Star Wars action figures in the entire world.  I thought I made a lot of custom action figures, Colin's output is just mind blowing.  He's tackled a lot of customs of Star Wars characters that I've seen no one else make.  Colin creates almost an action figure a day and his Facebook page is full of Star Wars figures from the galaxy far, far away.  He's made so many figures that I was overwhelmed when I had to decide what I should post.  After hours of trying to decide, I contacted Colin and asked him for his favorites.  A bulk of these photos were Colin's favorites, but I just had to add a few of my own too.  If you are a fan of Star Wars customs, you have to follow Colin.  You definitely want his creations in your Facebook feed.

Colin doesn't really post in the fan forums because he doesn't have a computer, so he posts his figures on Facebook after he snaps a shot of his latest creation with his camera phone.  If you spend your time on Star Wars fan sites, this is one of the customizing masters you may have missed out on.

Not only does he create a lot of modern looking Star Wars custom action figures,  but he also creates a lot of great custom Vintage action figures too.  So if you were never a fan of the modern Star Wars action figure line, Colin is a customizer that has a little something for everyone.  Make sure you follow his work!

Colin's World Tour

We've introduced you to the work of prolific Star Wars customizer, Colin Hobbs aka Colins Customs, here on the blog before, but we thought it would be really cool to show you how we participated in Colin's World Tour over our holiday season.

Who would like to help Colin travel around the world? Colin's been thinking of doing this for some time! If Colin can't travel the world then maybe his mini Colin can. If you would like to take part then Colin will send the figure to you and you take a pic of him at some great event or landmark.  Just tag Colin in the pic then forward on to the next person. This could be great fun with maybe a 2-year world tour for Colins Customs!

We had Colin over the week of Christmas.  While with us Colin took a trip to the Empire State Building, Grand Central station and Times Square.  When we got back home, we let Colin participate in our Christmas morning traditions, took a few photos of Colin's custom action figure with Rebekkah, the first Star Wars custom action figure that we ever made as well as photos with a few other parts of my collection.  Colin left our house earlier this week and is off to his next destination. We're looking forward to seeing where else Colin visits while on his tour.
