STAR WARS RESISTANCE "CB-23" created by Darth Daddy

CB-23 was a BB-series astromech droid with feminine programming who was a member of the Resistance in 34 ABY. She was assigned to Commander Poe Dameron while BB-8 was stationed on the Colossus with Kazuda Xiono. After Dameron took back BB-8 before going on a mission to Jakku, CB-23 replaced the droid as Kaz's sidekick while on his misson on the Colossus platform.

CB-23 was a BB-series astromech droid with a spherical chassis, feminine programming, and red-blue plating. She was initially jealous of BB-8 but came to appreciate her fellow droid better after he saved her from a marauding Kowakian monkey-lizard. The two subsequently became friends.

CB-23 is a character created for Star Wars Resistance. She first appeared in the episode "Signal from Sector Six."[2] The droid's name was BB-23 in early stages of the episode, but as it was felt that having two droids named BB would have been confusing, she was renamed CB-23 as a nod to Carrie Beck, Vice President of Development within the Lucasfilm Story Group.

This is the first custom that we made from the Star Wars Resistance TV show. We would love to do more because not enough toys were made from this show in the action figure line. We were given the 3-D print file for CB-23's head from fellow Star Wars customizer, Sandcrawler Customs. He had just made a 6" version. I scaled the head down to 3.75", printed the head and then added it to the body of the BB-8 from the Resistance action figure line and gave the figure a repaint.

3-D PRINTED 3.75" SCALE STAR WARS DROIDS

Rebelscum forum member Darkstryder has been teaching himself to 3D model by designing and printing 3.75" Star Wars droid action figures that have never been released in stores. He posts most of his models on Thingiverse under the username Isotelus. The photo above are just some of the figures he has posted so far. He has had a pretty positive reception so far, and he's taking design requests!

Are you as excited as we are? Well if not, then take into consideration that the figures in the photo are his designs from only the last two weeks. The possibilities are endless, and from what it looks like from where we're standing, plentiful. The designs printing time is only about 2 hours per droid.

Oh, and did we mention that the models are available to download for FREE?!!!

"VIZAGO DROID" created by Customs for the Kid

Elias painted the bulk of this droid, while Darth Daddy jumped in at the last minute to sharpen up the paint on the yellow markings.  Then we added a cost of sealer to complete the quick repaint of Hasbro's figure.  It is a nice way to bookend the smuggler action figure on the shelf.

This quick project was a nice way to add something special to our Star Wars Rebels collection.

"POWER DROID" created by Darth Daddy

Dad repainted the 2012 Droid Set Vintage Collection GNK Droid with a paint application that was inspired by the 1978 Power Droid from the Vintage Star Wars collection.  The sculpts on the figures were completely different, so Dad just tried to repaint the more modern figure with the old blue/orange paint scheme from the earlier figure.  I really liked how Dad's figure came out!

Notable power droid models included the EG-6 power droid produced by Veril Line Systems, the EG-4 found in Echo Base on Hoth, and the GNK power droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton.

Super-Articulated "8D8 aka Atedeeate" Action Figure created by Elias

Last month I was checking out the Facebook page of Colins Customs and I saw him super-articulate an 8D8 droid with the arms and legs of a Build A Droid BG-J38 from the old Legacy B.A.D. collection.  I thought it would be a cool project to tackle since I had the spare parts laying around.  I asked Dad to help me modify the legs so that I could add the pistons from the old 5 POA 8D8 figure from the POTF line and add the pistons to my B.A.D. legs.  Once Dad finished the modifications for me, I painted the figure.  Now not only does he have the original swivel shoulders and neck, but he also now has ball jointed hips, as well as added articulation in his elbows, knees, and ankles.

"Originally designed for work in ore extraction facilities, 8D8 and other members of his series were strong, solid, and simple.  At some point, he was modified to serve as a starship maintenance droid

Following EV-9D9's migration to Jabba's Palace's on Tatooine in Cyborg Operations, 8D8 was completely reprogrammed to serve as a dedicated torturer of both droids, and organics.
Despite his programming, 8D8 retained a secret dislike for his sadistic taskmaster, EV-9D9.

Around 4 ABY, during the time that Rebels came to rescue Han Solo from Jabba, 8D8 was following EV-9D9's order by torturing a GNK power droid with a mechanical smelting device that featured a hot glowing iron." - from Wookiepedia.

I'm really glad I had the time to submit one more entry in the Yakfinities #52: Jabba's Entourage contest over at Yakface.com before it comes to a close.
