Imperial Shipyards - No Paint Kitbash Contest 2014 Entry

Imperial Shipyards announced their first custom challenge for the New Year! The idea is to get everyone thinking about what parts look good together without painting anything. This is open to any toy line and any scale you choose. The best part is that you can enter up to ten figures! The NPKB contest has always had a lot of participants and stands to be one fun event.  Click on through and read the full details and see what fabulous prizes await.  We already entered a figure.  Dad made a quick generic Clone Wars Weequay pirate for Hondo's gang to get things rolling. This one takes only a few seconds to create with a heat gun, I only had to swap out the lower arms and pop him at the waist to add the cumberbun.  I used a scissor to modify the jacket by cutting along the gold line.

You could paint it if you want a more unique looking pirate.

Imperial Shipyards Announces a New Custom Action Figure Contest - Ultimate Action Figure Build Off!

Announcing the Ultimate Action Figure Build Off! That is right, Imperial Shipyard's upcoming contest is sure to challenge everyone to go all in. Pick your favorite character from any verse and make the ultimate version of them. Take a look at Sideshow or Hot Toys figures with multiple hands, alternate head sculpts, lots of accessories and so on. They also want to see a small base or mini diorama made to compliment the figure. 3 3/4 inch figures only to maintain a level playing field. This must be an all new creation so no figures that have been seen before on the web even in WIP stage. The contest starts June 20, 2013 and ends July 20, 2013.You are allowed to enter 6 photos in this contest thread. They will create a voting thread when the event ends and you will have to choose 1 photo to upload to the voting thread with your name and the name of the figure, nothing else. We're hoping to see some Star Wars figures in there, so have fun. Your imagination is your only limitation!

CONTEST COMMITMENTS

Even though we are hard at work here at home promoting the "Smuggler's Gambit" Custom Action Figure Contest with RebelForce Radio, we have some good friends over at Yakface.com and ImperialShipyards.net who are hosting a contest of their own, a Star Wars Episode VII Customizing Challenge to be exact.  We figured since we are judging our own contest and we can't submit entries that Customs for the Kid should definitely support others in the community by participating in our friend's event in the meantime.

Here are the entries we threw together.  Just background characters. Although, if there is one thing that can be said about Star Wars, it is that the background characters even have great tales told about them along the way.  Here are our characters, but their stories are still a work in progress.

ITHORIAN ENDOR REBEL SOLDIER created by DARTH DADDY

Dad wanted to create at least one more figure for the No Paint Kitbash Rally at Imperial Shipyards.   It was really cool when I came home tonight and found this Ithorian Endor Rebel Trooper.  To create the figure Dad used the hands, feet, and head of a POTF Momaw Nadon and made sure that when he added them to the body of a Vintage Orimaarko that he kept the articulation of the Vintage figure.  Dad made the head ball jointed, kept the swivel wrists, and added a swivel where both feet met the legs.  The Ithorian only took a few minutes to make.  The longest part of the entire process was waiting for the krazy glue to dry.  If you like the figure as much as we do, we recommend making one of your own.  It's too easy not to.

Less than One Week Left for Imperial Shipyards No Paint Kitbash Rally!

Dad has created some great kit-bashed Ewoks for me as part of our annual Christmas tradition here at home. These Ewok figures were used to decorate our Christmas tree.  Usually Dad does an improvised advent calendar event here at home where he puts a new Star Wars figure on the tree every day until we get to Christmas.  Usually the tree is mostly filled with Hasbro figures, but Dad put up a few customs this year as well.  My favorites were these No Paint Kitbashed Ewoks.
