After watching
"Idiot's Array" on the new TV show,
Star Wars Rebels, last week, I had a desire to finish a project that I had set aside for a time. I knew I had a pair of forearms from a
Vintage Bom Vimdim that needed to be dug out from behind several rows of carded action figures that were stored on our fodder shelves. A fun return to Star Wars by the character of Lando Calrissian gave me the incentive to get on it, and get the figure made finally. I did a spring cleaning and reorganized our shelving and while I was at it, I acquired the parts that I needed.
I used the Star Wars
Vintage Collection Lando Calrissian from the 2010 collection with the forearms of the
Bom Vimdim action figure so my custom would have ball jointed elbows. I modified the upper arms of the Lando figure with a Dremel so it could accept the ball joint, I also switched the original head that was on the figure with the
Vintage Sandstorm Outfit Lando head to finish the figure.
I saw another customizer use a similar recipe a while back, but he used the entire Bom Vimdim arm in his custom. It made the shoulders a bit more pronounced so I kept the original shoulders on mine. The recipe I used provided me with "my" ultimate Lando figure. I couldn't be happier now that he's done. It's funny how an easy custom can still be a very satisfying custom.
