How to "Make Any Action Figure in Carbonite" Tutorial: PART ONE

Darthy Daddy's"Wookielover1338 in Carbonite"

Since this photograph was taken, Jenn's left hand has been repositioned into a pose Dad preferred more.

"NEW"
IMPERIAL SHIPYARDS CONTEST:
Create a Wookielover1138 Contest

This is how Dad is turning Jenn into "Wookielover1338 in Carbonite" for the latest Imperial Shipyards contest.

He traced and then cut plastic pieces from a plastic Chinese food container and turned them into the top and side panels of the carbonite block. He used his Han Solo in Carbonite as a template to trace the panels out so they turned out the right size. He then fastened the panels together with Apoxie Sculpt. Dad cut a silhouette of Jenn into the top panel. As a template he used a custom Wookielover1138 action figure created from the body of a CW Padme in Adventure Gear with the head of a Marion Ravenwood. He laid the action figure in his desired pose and traced around the action figure with a marker. So Dad then placed the action figure in the center of the cut out in the top panel and fastened the action figure in place with the Apoxie Sculpt. He finished today's work with priming the top panel with some grey paint.

Next Dad has to do all the sculpting on the side panels, sand and smooth out the top with more Apoxie Sculpt and then do all the painting to finish it up.

This is a technique that could be used with any action figure.

Kessel Run Review - Episode 10

If you have been reading our blog for the last few months, you probably have noticed the posts we have been doing of Kessel Run Review. Kessel Run Review is a Youtube show produced by two people, Wookielover1138 and Kessel Run Imports. Their goal is to reach as many Star Wars fans as possible with their awesome new show. Initially they started just doing reviews for fun, but the show quickly grew to where customs and art became a large part of the presentation. The review show is further enhanced by comedic shorts that are just fantastic. They both do the writing and voice-overs, but Kessel Run Imports does all the video and graphics. Both are long time Star Wars fans and customizers themselves. They spend most weeknights working on the show and they have been having a great time. The team started off as best friends and roommates before they were an item and if you ask us they make one great team.

Kessel Run Imports started customizing in 1994 when he made a custom Spawn for a contest in Wizard Magazine in 1994. Then he dabbled around with some sculpting, but didn't do another custom until he made the Geonosian Catacombs Padme in 2009. He later created the Star Wars photocomic fan films Aperture's Eye and Vanishing Point which took about 2 months of free time to make. Although, Aperture's Eye was much more involved taking a whole month just to create the two 3-D scenes. Kessel Run Imports doesn't have any new films in the works at the moment, but his current project is making Trading Card Sets of Customizers.

Be sure to check out the website below to see the photocomics Aperture's Eye and Vanishing Point and their Star Wars custom action figures.

Check out "Customs for the Kid" on Kessel Run Review: Episode 3

Wookielover1138 has always been a fan of Star Wars, but in 2008 the Clone Wars movie hit theaters and her interest in collecting was born. Inspired by the online collecting and customizing community, she created her own review show. She wanted it to be different and showcase the creative talents of other collectors as well as the new toys out there in an entertaining way. Teaming up with her one man production crew, Kessel Run Imports, the first episode of her new show "Kessel Run Review" hit YouTube on March 2, 2011 and it's a must see. The show is well put together and the production quality is superb. The show is filled with humor and showcases some really creative skits that are just great. So if you want to check out some insightful toy reviews and be exposed to some really talented customizers, look no further...the show for you is here.
