DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: OUT OF COMMISSION TOYS

OUT OF COMMISSION TOYS aka TTT hasn't been making toys as frequently as he used to, but I just had to show off his custom Star Wars figures around the ghoulish days of Halloween.  His zombie Star Wars offerings are my personal favorites in the Star Wars custom community and I know you'll all enjoy them as much as I do.

TTT's father collected Star Wars figures in the 70's-80's. Him and his brother used to modify their toys as kids, usually with a bench vice for their Hot Wheel cars and a lighter for their model planes/cars.  Back in 2007, a few of his toys fell off a shelf; everything was okay except for a Transformers Alternators Smokescreen figure that was busted in half at its waist. He decided to add battle damage...why not - nothing to lose. He just went at it, melted some bits, dremeled off chunks, had fun and it worked rather well. Then he found he wanted to do another...and another...and...well, the rest is history.

TTT now specializes in pretty much anything, models, figures...cars, statues...clean and shiny to rusty, burned, trashed or zombiefied. Most fans know him for his battle damage and zombie work. 2014 marks 7 years of TTT "torturing your toys".

He's just the perfect customizer for the week of Halloween with his awesome zombie Star Wars creations. Have you ever wondered what the zombie apocalypse would look like in the Star Wars universe. Check out these customs and find out.  His paint work is as fun as it gets!  Now, go get your "Death Trooper" on!

Yakface Secret Santa 2012

So for the last three years now, Dad has been participating in Yakface.com's Secret Santa event.  It has always been a huge provider of Christmas spirit in our home and was a real influence on Dad's decision to run a Secret Santa over at Imperial Shipyards this year.  This year, Dad was assigned Star Wars customizer Justin Cook aka Chewie as the recipient of his holiday custom creations.  Chewie had us our first year participating in the event and he was kind enough to send us two custom action figures rather than just the single required figure the event promoted.

Dad wanted to return the favor when he participated in this year's event.  Because Chewie was a fan of Dad's zombie custom action figures and hints that Chewie dropped regarding his upcoming New Enloe Photonovel Chapter, Dad thought Justin would appreciate two unique Star Wars zombies.  Dad was really excited, and a little intimidated about creating custom action figures for one of his all-time  favorite Star Wars customizers.  Dad was thrilled when Chewie said he received the action figures and loved them.  Keep your eyes peeled in future chapters of Chewie's photonovel.  You may just see these guys in a chapter featuring the undead.

ON THE WORKBENCH: SECRET SANTAS

He everyone.  So we haven't done a post in a while that features custom action figures created here in the home.  We are working on some though.  October tends to be a busy month around the house so life overwhelmed us more than usual and we fell behind on our posts.  Anyway, here is what we have got going right now.  This weekend we got started on our Secret Santa figures that we will be giving away once they are completed to the recipients we received by email from both Yakface.com and Imperialshipyards.net.  So here is what we have going so far.  Dad is building two zombie alien figures for the Yakface Secret Santa and a Twi'lek he is working on for the Imperial Shipyards Secret Santa.  I'm working on an alien for the Imperial Shipyards Secret Santa too.  The Imperial Shipyard Secret Santa figures are still in the build stage and aren't even finished being kitbashed yet.  Dad has to start his sculpting work on his zombies still, but he is off to a good start with the build and with creating his paint scheme that he is going to use.  Take a look at what we have started and we hope to have at least one finished figure for you next week and possibly one more "new" figure added that will also be part of the Secret Santa giveaway.

Secret Santa Figures (WIP)

Custom figures we are currently working on for our Secret Santa recipients.

Abyssin Zombie (WIP)
by Darth Daddy

Dad just has to do some sculpting around the mouth to finish this figure.  This will probably be the first completed figure since he has so much done already.

Vurk Zombie (WIP)
by Darth Daddy

Dad finished all the conceptual work on this one, but he has to do sculpting work on the face and arms before he can go and finish the paint job.

Cantina Alien
by Elias

All I need to do is paint this guy to wrap him up.

Twi'lek (WIP)
by Darth Daddy

This guy needs lots of sculpt work and the entire paint job before he can be labeled as finished.  Dad hasn't even completed kitbashing him yet.  This figure is the one that is furthest from being wrapped up.
