SANDTROOPER IN TUSKEN RAIDER DISGUISE

A few weeks ago I saw an awesome Star Wars custom action figure of a Sandtrooper in a Tusken Raider Disguise made by TD 5491 Phenix Customs.  As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted one.   Ben Kenobi had a sneaky suspicion that these were the guys who took out Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru so I knew it would be fun to add this figure to my collection.

To make it, Dad used a Vintage Sandtrooper and a Vintage Tusken Raider.  He cut off the neck post of both figures and glued the Tusken Raider head to the Sandtrooper body.  He had to boil and pop the arms of the Tusken Raider action figure to get the bandoliers off and add them to the Sandtrooper torso.  He made sure he added the soft goods robe first though.  Now I only wish that I had one with the awesome card back that TD 5491 Phenix Customs designed.

CAFN EPISODE #60: Sith_fire30

We always love any opportunity we have to hear Sith_fire30 interviewed and last nights interview on Custom Action Figure News was just as enjoyable as the rest.  We heard  about some great molding and casting products, as well as techniques for how to use them.  Although this episode interview was dominated by talk about his incredible line of figures from the Alien franchise, there was still plenty of time for Star Wars talk regarding work in progress figures of his Star Wars Invasion Sprague and Spider Leg Darth Maul.  Give it a listen, you won't be disappointed.

If you haven't seen the brand new and improved CAFN Page yet, be sure to give it a look.

PULPY FICTION ADDED TO "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"

"BOBA FETT"
created by Pulpy Fiction

Pulpy Fiction from Brantford, Ontario has a signature style when it comes to customizing his 6" Star Wars custom action figures. His work looks as if it just jumped off the page of a beautiful comic book. He is remarkably skilled. This is an artist you will want to watch. Not only can he paint his awesome creations with great precision but he can create tailor made soft goods to dress them in. His sculpts of Chewbacca and Boba Fett are just jaw dropping and his photos look like they could adorn the cover of an old pulp novel. If his future projects look as eye catching as these figures, we have one very cool journey ahead of us.   He still has many projects on the way, and I mean MANY.

VINTAGE SUPER-ARTICULATED EPISODE III DARTH VADER - QUICK CUSTOM

Parental Supervision Required. Take the upper torso of the Young Anakin Darth Vader from that Target 2 pack and swap it with the Vintage Darth Vader with the ball jointed hips and call it a day.  I boiled both figures in hot water and then when the plastic the figures are made of got soft enough I swapped the torsos switching out the lower fabric as well.  Figures will be hot and you can definitely burn yourself.  I advise letting the excess water completely drain off the soft goods before attempting to touch the figure even with your oven mitts on.

I like this project because it takes only a few minutes to create.  I need to grab one more of the Vintage Vaders so I can do an Episode VI removable helmet Vader with ball jointed hips and the Sebastian Shaw likeness.
