CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT UPDATE: Peak-OB1 Custom Creations

We have always been huge Peak-OB1 fans in this house.  For many years now he has created some of the coolest Clone Wars custom action figures, many of which have a home in our personal collection.  Since we are such big fans, we jumped at the opportunity to add some new characters to our action figure displays when PeakOB1 created a "Dr. Nuvo Vindi", a "Sy Snootles", "Jek Lawquane", "Nimbanel Bartender" and "Clone Commando Gregor".

All these figures sport beautiful sculpts, reliable engineering, and the gorgeous paint applications that Peak-OB1 is most known for.  We can't thank him enough for helping us build the most impressive Clone Wars action figure collection in the world today.  One day we're going to have to house our collection in a museum so everyone can enjoy it.  Maybe if we ever stop playing with it.  Don't hold your breath.  It may be a while.

"DROID FLIPPER" painted by Elias

For those active in fan forums, you are probably already familiar with the awesome diorama pieces that Hole In the Ground Productions offers to fellow collectors. Hole In the Ground's offerings are just too cool to not be part of any Star Wars 3.75″ collection.  Elias recently purchased and customized Hole In the Ground's new Robot Flipper.  The item was a great way to embellish the Droid Torture Chamber section of his Jabba shelf space by displaying this newly painted accessory.  Elias used cinnamon to add the rust color to this piece.  The new addition looks great posed with Elias' super-articulated 8D8 droid that he created a ways back.

CONTEST INFORMATION

Jimmy McInerney (Jimmy Mac) and Jason Swank of RebelForce Radio are once again teaming up with the "Customs for the Kid" blog to host a "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty" custom action figure contest to commemorate the "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty", the radio drama that was recorded live at Celebration Anaheim.  The radio drama is based on an original script by Kyle Newman and F.J. DeSanto. "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty" was directed by Kyle Newman (Fanboys) and produced by Jimmy “Mac” McInerney of RebelForce Radio, who whipped up over 100 sound effects and music cues that were blasted live onstage alongside some of the best Star Wars voice actors around today live to a packed audience of diehard fans at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.   The last custom action figure contest that was held for "Star Wars: Smuggler's Gambit" was a huge success, so this one is sure to be fun for all involved.  Show us what you can do!

First time customizers are greatly encouraged to jump in on the fun. We want as many entries as possible. This is an ALL AGES event.

RULES

-All custom action figure entries must be of characters that appear in the Star Wars radio drama "Smuggler's Bounty". Custom action figures can be in any scale.

-Participants are encouraged to submit as many entries as they wish. Please include 1 - 4 photos per custom action figure submitted (Front, Back, Left, and Right).

-Photoshop manipulations such as glowing lightsabers and blaster fire will not be accepted. We want the focus to be on the customs and not on their digital enhancement.

CLONE WARS "PHASE II - PRE VIZSLA" created by DARTH DADDY

This figure has been put off to the side for way longer than I can remember. Mostly because it was tons of work to pull off.  Originally, both Vizsla's head and helmet needed heavy modification. On top of that, I had to fabricate the jetpack from scratch.  After the project was completed, we ended up getting a 3D printed jetpack and helmet from Audes Workshop on eBay that improved upon the original helmet and jetpack.  We definitely wanted to add this version of Pre Vizsla to the collection since he was featured so prominently in this form during the later seasons of The Clone Wars television series. He took more hours to fabricate than I care to recall, but now that he is completed, I couldn't be happier.

The jetpack and belt pouches both attach magnetically.  I love the magnets, because you can tuck the dark saber that Vizsla wields between his back and the jetpack to hold it in place.  Attaching the pouches magnetically allowed them to be easily removed so I could have Vizsla as he appeared in "A Friend in Need" with the pouches present or Vizsla without the pouches on his belt like he was dressed when he battled Darth Maul in "Shades of Reason".

The gauntlets were repurposed Cad Bane forearms. They were heavily modified and fused to the original Pre Vizsla ones.

I'm really happy to be working on Clone Wars action figures again.  They are my favorite figures to make.

Pre Vizsla (pronounced /'pri vizlÉ‘/) was a male Human from Mandalore and was the leader of the Mandalorian Death Watch faction during the Clone Wars. Seeking to overthrow Duchess Satine Kryze and her pacifistic New Mandalorian government, in order to restore Mandalore to its widespread warrior ways, Vizsla secretly allied himself with Count Dooku and his Confederacy of Independent Systems. While governing Mandalore's moon, Concordia, and maintaining loyalty to Kryze in public, Vizsla led the Death Watch in secret from several Concordian mining camp bases. The Death Watch's terrorist attacks on Mandalore came to a head when Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Concordia with Kryze to follow leads on the Death Watch. When Kenobi discovered the Death Watch's secret base, Vizsla confronted them with several warriors and revealed himself as the renegades' leader. After engaging Kenobi in a short duel, Vizsla forced him and Kryze to flee Concordia.

Vizsla conspired with Mandalorian Senator Tal Merrik to capture Kryze during her journey to Coruscant, where she intended to plead her case directly to the Galactic Senate, but Merrik was defeated before he could complete his assignment. Amassing an army of Death Watch troops on Concordia in preparation to take over Mandalore, Vizsla was forced to wait until his and Dooku's plot to turn Mandalore against the Republic was completed. Vizsla dispatched a Death Watch assassin to Coruscant to kill Kryze, as her death would remove the opposition to the Senate's upcoming vote to have Republic troops occupy Mandalore—an occupation which would allow the Death Watch to gain the support of Mandalore populace and "liberate" them from the Republic. However, the assassin failed to murder Kryze, and the plot itself fell through, with the Senate voting against occupying Mandalore. With this turn of events, Vizsla was forced to postpone his attack on Mandalore, as his forces would be unable to hold the planet without its people's support.

At some point, Vizsla and his soldiers came across an escape pod lost in deep space which held the stranded Sith Lords Darth Maul and his brother Savage Opress. Harboring a common hatred of Obi-Wan Kenobi for his actions against them, they planned on having their revenge after their planned conquest of Mandalore. Gathering an army of criminals including the Hutts, the Pykes, and the Black Sun, Vizsla and Maul attacked Sundari, allowing Death Watch to act as heroes to a desperate population after the Duchess's forces failed to stop the criminals. With the support of the Mandalorian people, Vizsla ousted Satine and appointed himself Prime Minister and claimed the ancient title of Mand'alor. He also betrayed his Sith allies who were imprisoned but who managed to escape. Maul challenged Vizsla to a duel to determine the true ruler of the Mandalorians. After a long and difficult duel, Maul defeated Vizsla and executed him for his failures, before claiming his position as leader of the Death Watch.

Replacement for Hasbro's Radar Dish to Create "The Force Awakens" Millennium Falcon

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

If you are like us and you don't want to spend the money to buy another Millennium Falcon from Hasbro as it is depicted in "The Force Awakens", because the only difference we know of at this time is that externally the only difference is a new radar dish, we may have a solution for you.  3D Print Designer TonyRR is offering a replacement dish for the Falcon you already have on Shapeways.

The 66 mm quad radar dish is not round but square like the Episode VII Falcon.

This upgrade is available in Frosted Ultra Detail.
