"Eirtaé - Royal Handmaiden" created by Elias

Eirtaé was a female human who was part of Queen Amidala's retinue of handmaidens. Contrarily to all the other handmaidens and to the Queen herself, she had blond hair. When the Trade Federation invaded Naboo, Eirtaé was one of the three handmaidens who accompanied Amidala to Coruscant, the capital of the Galactic Republic. When the Queen returned to her homeworld in hopes of retaking it, the blonde handmaiden joined the struggle. In the aftermath, Eirtaé was present at the funeral of Qui-Gon Jinn, a Jedi Master who had lost his life during the conflict.

This was a very quick repaint by Elias, but the results are pretty stellar.  Once the base coat was applied, all he needed was a few washes and some drybrushed in highlights to make this figure really pop. This a great custom action figure to do for beginning customizers and it's a great way to increase the size of Padme's royal entourage.

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT UPDATE: Peak-OB1 Custom Creations "Clone Wars Gregor - The Dishwasher"

While we have plenty of completed custom action figures ready to be posted up on the blog, we still have plenty of picture editing still left to do.  We were going to try and get it done before the holiday, but it just didn't happen.  Truth be told, it was a good thing, because if we completed the task, we would have forgotten to do a Customizer Spotlight this month.

Peak-OB1 is probably the most featured artist on the blog other than ourselves and for good reason. We own over forty of his Star Wars custom action figures.  In fact this is the second custom action figure of this character in our collection that was made by Peak-OB1.  The first version of the character we acquired was of Gregor in his Republic Commando armor.  This time we obtained a version of Gregor while he was employed as a dishwasher that suffered from amnesia.  It was another wonderful addition to the Clone Wars collection!

STAR WARS REBELS "CAPTAIN REX" created by Darth Daddy

One more Rebels post before we return to some Star Wars characters from the film series. Hasbro's Star Wars Rebels Captain Rex figure looked great, but we knew we wanted to embellish it a bit by increasing the articulation.  Dad took the ball jointed shoulders of a Yarna d'al' Gargan to articulate Rex's elbows and the knees from a Clone Trooper Pilot to get his legs to bend above the boots.  Dad hollowed out Rex's gauntlets and boots to accept the nubs Dad left attached to the ball joints that he glued to Rex's extremities.  Dad then used a styrene rod to create pins to attach to the hands articulating Rex's wrists.  Dad's efforts took an already amazing looking action figure, and made it that much better by increasing the pose-ability.

At some point, Dad said he is going to give him a proper paint application...

"VIZAGO DROID" created by Customs for the Kid

Elias painted the bulk of this droid, while Darth Daddy jumped in at the last minute to sharpen up the paint on the yellow markings.  Then we added a cost of sealer to complete the quick repaint of Hasbro's figure.  It is a nice way to bookend the smuggler action figure on the shelf.

This quick project was a nice way to add something special to our Star Wars Rebels collection.

Brad Harris Added to "Customs I Wish I Owned"

With 3-D printing now becoming more and more popular, Star Wars fans are quickly approaching a new golden era where artists can manufacture their own custom toy designs and make them look just as good as the large manufacturers.

One of these artists, Industrial Designer Brad Harris, has had some of his work make the rounds on some Star Wars fan sites recently and for good reason.  His designs and execution were just top notch!  Not only did he create some pretty awesome additions to any Star Wars collection, but he even took the time to do the packaging for his creations.  Harris is definitely a designer we'd love to see working for Hasbro in the near future.  The Krayt Dragon, Rathtar, Rancor, and TIE Defender he produced are some must see designs!  I don't know about you, but I will be bookmarking his webpage to see what else this amazing artist will produce.  I envy his skills!
