"THE CHILD" painted by ELIAS

So here at home, we are not immune to all the hype surrounding The Mandalorian on Disney+. We were so excited for the show we purchased a year of the new streaming service before it even launched. Now that the app is launched we don't know if there is enough content to keep us interested in maintaining the commitment going forward. While we are certainly excited for new Star Wars content, we also learned that was the only content on the service that could keep our attention. As far as the show goes, The Mandalorian definitely delivered.

Not only did we love the look of the show, but it was a solid show on all fronts. We loved the cast, the premise and the execution.

We especially loved the introduction of "The Child" at the end of the first episode. Based on fan reception, it appears wea re not alone in our feelings on the surprise addition to the cast. Retail items are slowly trickling into stores, but are arriving at a pace a bit too slow for the collecting community. As a result, an enormous of fan made items are flooding the market.

We picked up a 3.75" scale resin cast version of the character on eBay from Watto's Scrapyard. We really like the non-articulated sculpt. We received it in the mail shortly after we placed our order and I painted him up as soon as Dad told me he made the purchase. We highly recommend picking one of these up. We also bought a second version from Asis Film Models that we will post on the blog when he is received. Until then, enjoy the new addition to our collection!

ASIS FILM MODELS - THE FORCE AWAKENS "NIMA OUTPOST - BOBBAJO KIT" assembled & painted by ELIAS

This is a project we finished earlier in the year but just got around to posting up on the blog. The "Nima Outpost Model Kit for Bobbajo" produced by Asis Film Models is a 3.75" scale figurine and is a great addition to any Star Wars action figure collection. It is an ultra-detailed resin cast that we purchased online. Once we received it in the mail, we then assembled and painted it by hand.

Bobbajo was a male Nu-Cosian[2] with a white beard who lived on Jakku approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor.[6] He carried a group of animals around in cages, including frog-like gwerps, chicken-like pishnes, a lonlan, two zhhee and an ill-tempered worrt named J'Rrosch.[2][4] His calm demeanor helped settle down the animals while he transported them.[5] He roamed between the settlements of the planet telling stories to local villagers and entertaining children with the talents of his menagerie. He claimed his creatures were responsible for the destruction of the first Death Star, but few believe him. This earned him the names of the "Storyteller" and the "Crittermonger".[2] Bobbajo was the only other vendor known to be allowed to sell food in Niima Outpost by Unkar Plutt. His customers however, were restricted solely to spacers.[7]

Bobbajo was first shown in "Star Wars: Force for Change - A Message from J.J. Abrams", a video released on YouTube in 2014 in which J.J. Abrams introduced the charity campaign Star Wars: A Force for Change. The video was filmed on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and showed the creature walking behind Abrams while he talked, at one stage drawing the director's attention. He was one of the first new characters from Episode VII to have been shown. He was portrayed by Aidan Cook in the film.

"RAIDER OF THE LOST ART" Added to "CUSTOMS I WISH I OWNED"

Hendrik Van Doorn aka RAIDER OF THE LOST ART is a one-man custom figure creating initiative, made by a fan for the fans. His work focuses on background characters from the Original Star Wars Trilogy, but he has recently made a bunch of highly desirable figures from Rogue One too. He has been creating hundreds of figures on a commission basis for collectors from all over the world. Constructed at his home in Belgium and then shipped out to his fans that span from Singapore across to the United States. He performs special requests like blister carded figures and boxes that are accomplished in cooperation with fellow customizers. He has been creating custom action figures for the last three years. While he'll humbly tell you that he is still learning, evolving, and hopefully, making progress, we are quite sure when you judge his work for yourself, you will agree, he is already well accomplished in the art form. Any interest in his work, just shoot him a message. He will reply to every possible question you have.... any at all.

STAR WARS REBELS "BATTLE DAMAGED DARTH VADER" created by Customs for the Kid

This was an action figure that we threw together on the fly in between working on other projects. Dad bored out the head of the Darth Vader and used a hot knife to achieve a precise cut in Vader's helmet. I took the head of a 2012 Clone Wars Anakin Skywalker action figure that came with the Lightsaber Launcher and created a press mold of his face with some ProCreate, waited for it to dry, and then poured some liquid resin into my press mold. Once the cast solidified, we cut the cast to shape, painted in all the details, inserted the piece into our newly created hole carved into Vader's head and glued it into place.
