THE CLONE WARS - SEASON 7 "ANAKIN SKYWALKER" created by Darth Daddy

This action figure was created for a commission. Our good friend Corey Van Dyke of Kessel Run Transmissions asked Dad if he could make him an Anakin Skywalker in time for the release of Season 7. Dad was a little worried about the deadline, but was able to finish the figure in less than a week.

We may have another cool Clone Wars action figure coming later in the season of the show so keep coming back for that reveal.

Look for Dad to appear as a recurring guest on Kessel Run Transmissions Friday evenings as they review each episode of Season 7 of The Clone Wars.

"HURID-327" painted by Darth Daddy

HURID-327 was the groundskeeper of Maz Kanata's castle, which was located on the planet Takodana, and was responsible for carrying her guests' luggage. Shortly before its destruction by the First Order, he was passing through the castle's front gate when he crossing paths with a group consisting of the astromech droid BB-8, the smuggler Han Solo, the scavenger Rey and the former stormtrooper Finn, who were entering the castle.

This figure was created from another 3-D print file by Isotelus. He has articulation at the shoulders, wrists, hips and waist. We have been wanting to add this droid from The Force Awakens to our shelves since we saw the film. It is really exciting to have him as part of the collection now!

"C26-T SIFTER DROID" painted by Darth Daddy

C26-T was a sifter droid that was forced to work in the criminal Pyke Syndicate's spice mines on the planet Kessel during the reign of the Galactic Empire.[1] In 10 BBY,[3] C26-T was freed from slavery when its restraining bolt was removed during a slave revolt in the mines started by the droid L3-37.

This figure was created by another 3-D print file from Isotelus. We have been having a blast adding these droids to our collection, because what fun is a droid revolution with no droids!

These are the droids we made so far in 2020 and there's plenty more on the way!

"JV-P12" modified and painted by Darth Daddy

Back in February of 2019, we shared some really cool 3-D print files from Isotelus featuring unreleased 3.75" droids that appeared throughout the Star Wars saga. We loved his offerings and as a result, we heavily modified one of his prints to create our Professor Huyang action figure back in July.  For that action figure we had to use a third-party to produce the print and ship it to us so Dad could get to work on adding articulation and sculpt in some details missing from the design. It was just one of many figures that we wanted to add to our collection from the ones that were available. The major roadblock that we faced when adding more of these droids to our collection was the high cost of using third-party printing companies to achieve our goals. Huyang alone ran us almost $30+ dollars to print and ship. Much too expensive for us to keep making more!

Well this holiday, we saw our biggest impediment to reaching our goal of making these droids removed when my grandmother bought me and Dad a 3-D LONGER Orange 30 SLA Printer for Christmas. Originally, when asked what we wanted, Dad just said a tube of Green Stuff, 90 grams of ProCreate putty, and a 1/4 lb. of Aves Fixit to replenish all of our sculpting mediums. Getting the printer as a gift was way beyond anything we could have ever imagined.

While we had absolutely no experience with 3-D printing, Dad got to work on learning various software like Meshmixer, Meshroom, and CHITUBOX  in preparation for making our dreams a reality. For our first print, Dad picked Isotelus' JV-P12 droid that appeared at the Kessel mines in the film Solo: A Star Wars Story. Dad is a huge fan of the movie and we both thought the HVAC droid was just adorable. The first print that we attempted had some imperfections, but at just 35 cents a print compared to more than $30, we were fine with a little trial and error. We are still trying to nail down what went wrong the first go round, but have since had a successful run on our second try. Once the print was cured under a UV light, Dad set to painting the droid and used the metal handle from a Chinese food container and two strips of gift wrapping tape to manufacture the bar that protrudes from the front of the droid that was absent in the original design. By the time Dad was finished we were able to add JV-P12 to our Kessel Mine Escape Playset display in my room!

We are blown away by the possibilities this new machine will offer to our craft. We hope you were all stick around in 2020 to see what the New Year brings to our blog.

"THE CHILD" painted by ELIAS

So here at home, we are not immune to all the hype surrounding The Mandalorian on Disney+. We were so excited for the show we purchased a year of the new streaming service before it even launched. Now that the app is launched we don't know if there is enough content to keep us interested in maintaining the commitment going forward. While we are certainly excited for new Star Wars content, we also learned that was the only content on the service that could keep our attention. As far as the show goes, The Mandalorian definitely delivered.

Not only did we love the look of the show, but it was a solid show on all fronts. We loved the cast, the premise and the execution.

We especially loved the introduction of "The Child" at the end of the first episode. Based on fan reception, it appears wea re not alone in our feelings on the surprise addition to the cast. Retail items are slowly trickling into stores, but are arriving at a pace a bit too slow for the collecting community. As a result, an enormous of fan made items are flooding the market.

We picked up a 3.75" scale resin cast version of the character on eBay from Watto's Scrapyard. We really like the non-articulated sculpt. We received it in the mail shortly after we placed our order and I painted him up as soon as Dad told me he made the purchase. We highly recommend picking one of these up. We also bought a second version from Asis Film Models that we will post on the blog when he is received. Until then, enjoy the new addition to our collection!

ASIS FILM MODELS - THE FORCE AWAKENS "NIMA OUTPOST - BOBBAJO KIT" assembled & painted by ELIAS

This is a project we finished earlier in the year but just got around to posting up on the blog. The "Nima Outpost Model Kit for Bobbajo" produced by Asis Film Models is a 3.75" scale figurine and is a great addition to any Star Wars action figure collection. It is an ultra-detailed resin cast that we purchased online. Once we received it in the mail, we then assembled and painted it by hand.

Bobbajo was a male Nu-Cosian[2] with a white beard who lived on Jakku approximately thirty years after the Battle of Endor.[6] He carried a group of animals around in cages, including frog-like gwerps, chicken-like pishnes, a lonlan, two zhhee and an ill-tempered worrt named J'Rrosch.[2][4] His calm demeanor helped settle down the animals while he transported them.[5] He roamed between the settlements of the planet telling stories to local villagers and entertaining children with the talents of his menagerie. He claimed his creatures were responsible for the destruction of the first Death Star, but few believe him. This earned him the names of the "Storyteller" and the "Crittermonger".[2] Bobbajo was the only other vendor known to be allowed to sell food in Niima Outpost by Unkar Plutt. His customers however, were restricted solely to spacers.[7]

Bobbajo was first shown in "Star Wars: Force for Change - A Message from J.J. Abrams", a video released on YouTube in 2014 in which J.J. Abrams introduced the charity campaign Star Wars: A Force for Change. The video was filmed on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII The Force Awakens and showed the creature walking behind Abrams while he talked, at one stage drawing the director's attention. He was one of the first new characters from Episode VII to have been shown. He was portrayed by Aidan Cook in the film.
