DARTH DADDY's CUSTOMIZING CORNER: LORD SIXTH CUSTOMS

David Rodriguez, aka Lord Sixth Customs is a Spaniard who has been living in England for almost 4 years now. He has been collecting figures for more than 15 years (mainly Hasbro, Kotobukiya and Sideshow). He always loved people's customs and thought that he would never have the skills to make his own. His first crack at customizing started almost two years ago; as a fan of the Boba Fett from the "Holiday Special", Lord Sixth Customs thought that it would be a cool idea to paint the version from Kotobukiya in tenth scale. The final result was good, but not as good as he had hoped. From that moment, he kept painting different figures, and working with different scales, doing good and bad things, learning from the mistakes, and little by little improving his skills. He's very humble, and he'll still tell you he is a rookie, but anyone who sees his work knows that he has some serious talent. He have been posting my work as "coleccionismosw" on the Sideshowcollectors forums, but it was an improvised name that he never liked, so in order to create something a bit more original he created the "Lord Sixth" moniker with the "Sixth" to represent the scale he works in. Definitely check out the links because this artist has a large body of work to explore.  Most of his customs were still in Spain and he didn't have the ability to photograph them for this feature but plenty more photos exist in the provided links.  Enjoy!

CUSTOMIZER SPOTLIGHT #41: Boutros77 - Ben's House & Yoda's Hut

Early in the week, I found some really beautiful Star Wars dioramas up for auction on eBay.  When Elias saw them he asked me to bid on them for him and he would reimburse me with the money he had been saving from some commissions that he did.  When he won both auctions, he screamed praises to the gods above for his victory.  Quite excessively and at great length to my surprise. A low bellow from deep within.

After winning the auction, I inquired and asked the seller who the artist was that made these incredible dioramas for 3 3/4" action figures.  I was informed that they were created by artist Carl BouMansour who goes by the handle of Boutros77.  His talent has caught the eye of Star Wars blogger/historian Tim Veekhoven who tweeted the artist's work and Boutros77 has even been interviewed by From 4-LOM to Zuckuss.com.

His Cantina and Jabba's Palace dioramas have gotten some serious attention too. I advise checking out his Flickr page.  Drool worthy!

"POWER DROID" created by Darth Daddy

Dad repainted the 2012 Droid Set Vintage Collection GNK Droid with a paint application that was inspired by the 1978 Power Droid from the Vintage Star Wars collection.  The sculpts on the figures were completely different, so Dad just tried to repaint the more modern figure with the old blue/orange paint scheme from the earlier figure.  I really liked how Dad's figure came out!

Notable power droid models included the EG-6 power droid produced by Veril Line Systems, the EG-4 found in Echo Base on Hoth, and the GNK power droid manufactured by Industrial Automaton.
