Rebel Bombay

Dad's new custom action figure is a former bounty hunter who quite some time ago joined the Rebel Alliance. Known only to others by the name of Rebel Bombay everyone will agree he's the one fighter you want on your team. Yes, he's a cunning and skilled fighter, but more notable than any other asset that he possesses, what stands out most about him is his ability to always have good luck on his side. He has the uncanny ability to always beat the odds, no matter how unlikely they may be. He once took out an entire Empire base by himself with only his blasters and a few well placed thermal detonators prompting him being given the title Tiger of the Desert. He was also well known for his swagger and charm.

Rebel Bombay

He was created from the body of the Vintage Boba Fett and the head of an Indiana Jones Temple Thug action figure that was then custom painted.

Rebel Bombay wears Mandalorian armor, but he'll be quick to tell you he's no Mandalorian. He's very open about letting everyone know that he killed the Mandalorian who wore it.

Rebel Bombay was on Tatooine trading with the Jawas just before the Jawas went to Uncle Owen's moisture farm. He was one of the last people to see the Jawas alive.

Rebel Bombay has two cybernetic eyes.

Tutorial: Five Minute Custom Modification for Your Clone Wars Young Boba Fett Action Figure

Hasbro's Clone Wars version of a young Boba Fett is by far one of the coolest action figures to come out of that line. Any collector or child is bound to have a load of fun with an action figure as good as this one with all the great articulation that it has to offer.

Recently while browsing through Imperial Shipyards, Dad came across a custom action figure made by customizer SPUDAFETT that just blew him away and he knew he wanted to make something similar. When Dad looked at SPUDAFETT's custom Young Boba Fett, he knew that SPUDAFETT nailed it. The figure had all the bells and whistles. When Dad took a look at it he thought that this was a custom that everybody would want. Then he thought that not everybody would feel that they had the knowledge or skills to be able to create it, so he figured what if he showed everyone a way to make a substandard version of that figure that required no dremel and no paint application that even a beginning customizer could tackle.

Dad's figure would only require the customizer to use a Clone Wars Mace Windu head, a Boba Fett helmet from the new Vintage line, a sharp knife, krazy glue, and 5 minutes of their time. In return, they would get a second interchangeable head for their Clone Wars Young Boba Fett action figure.

To create it, Dad cut the Clone Wars Mace Windu head just above the eyes, popped the head onto the torso of the Clone Wars Young Boba Fett action figure. Placed the Boba Fett helmet from the new Vintage line onto what was left of the Mace Windu head and krazy glued the head into the helmet in the desired position. Use your last four minutes to hold the helmet in place and let the krazy glue dry. Just be careful when applying the glue that you don't glue the head to the torso so the head maintains its articulation and remains interchangeable. Once the glue is dry, you're done. You now have a young Boba Fett sporting the iconic helmet that we all know and love. The great part is that the custom modification requires no paint since the helmet already matches the backpack.

The Mace Windu head, cut and glued to the helmet of the Vinatge Boba Fett that is in stores now. I love the irony of using the Mace Windu head to make this custom. But come on, we all know Windu is in Boba's head anyway.

Be sure not to glue the head to the torso to maintain the heads articulation.

This custom makes it so you can have the action figure with and without a helmet. A great custom for beginners.

CREATED BY SPUDAFETT

It's easy to see how this action figure can inspire.

SPUDAFETT made the deluxe version of the figure with a crisp paint application, gauntlets, cape, and a custom missile in the jetpack.

SPUDAFETT even upped the game by making the helmet removable by removing some of Boba's hair.

The hair removal isn't even noticeable.

WIKI ASSANGE - GALACTIC JOURNALIST

The Kyuzo, Wiki Assange, was an independent galactic journalist who was known for his controversial articles that exposed the rampant corruption that occurred throughout the duration of The Clone Wars and even continued his independent journalistic pursuits after the formation of the first galactic Empire. His goal was to one day be able to expose Emperor Palpatine for what he truly was...a dark lord of the Sith.

WIKI ASSANGE

Wiki kept a blaster with him at all times and he was good with it too. He knew that his stories didn't make him popular and placed a constant target upon his head.

Dad used the body of an Indiana Jones action figure and an extra Embo head for the face of the Kyuzo journalist. He even dremeled out the hat of Indiana Jones to make it removable.

If there was a story to find, he found it.

Totally Togruta!!

Customizer Tokiravensky recently posted a Togruta Jedi on the Yakface forums. I love Togrutas and when Dad saw the action figure, he noticed that we had all the pieces available to make one for me too. Dad made a few changes to his figure though. Instead of making the Togruta a Jedi, he made him just an ordinary everyday citizen. Dad also added some white Togruta markings to the chest and then to top it all off, he made me an extra male and a female Togruta too.

Another Fan Fiction Custom from Dad

When Dad grabbed the Nicanas Tassu head from the fodder bag, he knew instantly that he wanted to paint the head to make the action figure resemble Pai Mei known for his appearances in Shaw Brothers movie classics Executioners from Shaolin, Clan of the White Lotus, as well as Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill series to give the figure the "White Brow" look. Dad's a huge kung fu fanatic and I think he tries to slip in his influences whenever he can when he makes me a new custom. He said that when he made this action figure he was also influenced by a lone Ronin samurai that you'd find in an Akira Kurosawa movie or Kihachi Okamoto's The Sword of Doom. He was also greatly inspired by Jeff Bridges' character Rooster Cogburn in the Coen brothers new western True Grit. He said the whole time he made this custom he kept thinking about what true grit really means over and over like a mantra.

Every bounty hunter had a mentor. Yojimbo Barnes was Embo's. Barnes found the orphaned Kyuzo on his travels through Phatrong and raised him as a son. Barnes says Embo survived his training that he affectionately refers to as his baptism by fire. Yojimbo can still be found collecting bounties well into his old age. Regardless of the fact that he has a worthy successor. I guess that's what it means to have true grit.

YOJIMBO BARNES

Dad loves his old man belly from the Wilrow Hood action figure.

You should hear the tales about Embo's training. If you thought "Lone Wolf and Cub" was good....

Dad Makes Me a Jan Ors

Happy New Year everybody!! For our first post of 2011, we are going to show a custom action figure Dad made of Jan Ors. A lot of other customizers have made her, and the reason why they have is because you can't really enjoy playing with the Hasbro versions of Kyle Katarn if you don't have a Jan Ors by his side.

__________

Jan Ors was an Alderaanian intelligence operative who began her work as an agent for the terrorist organization Justice Action Network. As the undercover agent Jan Strange, she then shifted to helping the Alliance to Restore the Republic, becoming one of their trusted operatives.

Ors was instrumental in recruiting Kyle Katarn to the Alliance and together they worked on many missions for the Alliance and later the New Republic. The two would later become romantically involved. Ors continued her work for the New Republic by joining Alpha Blue, a secret intelligence organization, that she eventually took over from Hiram Drayson. There she worked for the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances against the Yuuzhan Vong.

__________

When Dad made his Jan Ors, he didn't try to make her look exactly the way she did in the comics, replicating every detail and piece of clothing, but rather tried to capture the essence of who she was. Anyway, here she is.

Unfortunately, I can't account for every piece used in this action figure. I know the head is a Bultar Swan from the Comic pack, the legs are from a Han Solo action figure although I'm not sure which one, the weapon is a welding torch from a POTF Chewbacca, and the goggles I think came from a G.I. Joe action figure. The torso and arms we grabbed from our fodder bag, and it's actually my favorite piece of the action figure. Anyone who can identify it I'd really like to know who it's from, too.
