RebelForce Radio and Customs for the Kid: "Star Wars Smuggler's Bounty" Custom Action Figure Contest - ENDING HALLOWEEN DAY!

CONTEST INFORMATION

Jimmy McInerney (Jimmy Mac) and Jason Swank of RebelForce Radio are once again teaming up with the "Customs for the Kid" blog to host a "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty" custom action figure contest to commemorate the "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty", the radio drama that was recorded live at Celebration Anaheim.  The radio drama is based on an original script by Kyle Newman and F.J. DeSanto. "Star Wars: Smuggler’s Bounty" was directed by Kyle Newman (Fanboys) and produced by Jimmy “Mac” McInerney of RebelForce Radio, who whipped up over 100 sound effects and music cues that were blasted live onstage alongside some of the best Star Wars voice actors around today live to a packed audience of diehard fans at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim.   The last custom action figure contest that was held for "Star Wars: Smuggler's Gambit" was a huge success, so this one is sure to be fun for all involved.  Show us what you can do!

First time customizers are greatly encouraged to jump in on the fun. We want as many entries as possible. This is an ALL AGES event.

RULES

-All custom action figure entries must be of characters that appear in the Star Wars radio drama "Smuggler's Bounty". Custom action figures can be in any scale.

-Participants are encouraged to submit as many entries as they wish. Please include 1 - 4 photos per custom action figure submitted (Front, Back, Left, and Right).

-Photoshop manipulations such as glowing lightsabers and blaster fire will not be accepted. We want the focus to be on the customs and not on their digital enhancement.

-Include your email, name, and mailing address, with your entry.

-All photo entries must be sent to the following email address: show@rebelforceradio.com with the Subject line "Smuggler's Bounty Customs".

Notice that nowhere in the rules does the contest say that it has to be a "brand new" custom. If you made a custom years ago that appeared in the "Smuggler's Bounty" story just enter it. It only takes a few seconds to email a few pictures. Especially if you have already photographed it. SHOW US YOUR STAR WARS ART!

Make sure your picture(s) are attached in your email and all the contest's rules have been complied with before you send your email.

Customizer Spotlight # 42: "STAR WARS REBELS - SABINE's TIE FIGHTER" created by MirkoFx Studio aka Mirko Martinovic

When Star Wars fans wrapped up Season One of "Star Wars Rebels", viewers gazed at one ultra cool variation on a Tie Fighter via the artistic stylings of The Ghost crew member, Sabine Wren. Many fans hope that Hasbro releases a version of the vehicle from the "Fire Across the Galaxy" season finale, but as of now we're still waiting for an official announcement that it will happen.  Mirko Martinovic's painted Tie Fighter was probably the best exclusive giveaway at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim, because it is one of the only manifestations we have seen of Sabine's Tie Fighter so far. One lucky raffle winner walked away with the prize on the last day of the convention.

When the convention was over, a fan commissioned Mirko to recreate his convention exclusive. The custom took him 3 whole weeks to complete. A true labor of love! Lucky for us, the person backed out the deal at the last minute.

Mirko was getting ready to list this masterpiece up on eBay when Dad sent him an offer.  I turned 12 yesterday, and I was in complete shock when I came home and saw this beauty hanging from my ceiling with all my other Rebel ships!

"Imperial Star Destroyer Playset" created by McRobo Creations

Two weeks ago, we featured a vehicle/playset build from McRobo Creations of Jabba's Sail Barge. This time we are exhibiting their latest build...a Imperial Star Destroyer playset.  160 hours of work went into this piece. Materials are mostly ABS Flat Plastic (Styrene) and it is just gorgeous!  The 6' long playset version runs for $1,600, but if that price is a little too steep for you, there is also a non-playset version that sells for extremely reasonable price of $450. Maybe we have expensive tastes, but the playset version is just beautiful. We're sure any Star Wars fans would love one of these!

Star Wars: Power of the Force - Millennium Falcon ("Episode VII: The Force Awakens" Conversion) by Elias

If you are like us, and you don't want to spend the money to buy another Millennium Falcon from Hasbro, here is a "Force Awakens" home improvement project that we made with our Star Wars: Power of the Force - Millennium Falcon.  Years ago we upgraded our Falcon when the Legacy edition hit stores, so the 1995 released toy was sitting out of view a retired toy.  Breathing life into it again was a real blast.

We had to heat the metal pin free from the old dish to get it off the housing, but it pulled apart pretty easily after a few minutes of being boiled in water.  We weren't too crazy about the action features in Hasbro's new Millennium Falcon offering.  The Nerf feature just felt out of place, and paying for a new dish was much cheaper than the new Falcon's price tag.  We do admit that we wish we had the Finn and Chewbacca figures with the headsets!  Those are great looking figures.

3D Print Designer TonyRR offers a replacement dish for the Falcon on Shapeways. The 66 mm quad radar dish is not round but square like the Episode VII Falcon.  This upgrade is available in Frosted Ultra Detail.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

3D Print Designer TonyRR is offering a replacement dish for the Falcon you already have on Shapeways.

The 66 mm quad radar dish is not round but square like the Episode VII Falcon.

This upgrade is available in Frosted Ultra Detail.

*Not sure if this radar dish will work as well with the BMF Legacy/Vintage Boxed Falcon as it does with the POTF Falcon.  At least not without modifying the attachments considerably.  With the POTF Falcon, not even glue is needed and the old dish could be easily reattached without issue or damage to the original piece.

Customizer Spotlight Update: "Tantive IV Passageway" created by Boutros77

Earlier in the summer, we showcased two really beautiful Star Wars dioramas we purchased on eBay.  One was Ben's House and the other was Yoda's Hut.  They were both created by artist Carl BouMansour who goes by the handle Boutros77.

His talent has caught the eye of Star Wars blogger/historian Tim Veekhoven who tweeted the artist's work, and Boutros77 has been interviewed by From 4-LOM to Zuckuss.com.  His Cantina and Jabba's Palace dioramas have gotten some serious attention too.

A few weeks after we wrote our feature on the new additions to our collection, we had the opportunity to add another one of Boutros77's dioramas to our shelves. This time the display was of the inner passageways of the Tantive IV ship that carried Princess Leia and the Death Star plans.

The craftsmanship on this piece is most impressive. The opening and closing door feature is strong and sturdy, and we really love that one of the wall panels can be removed to increase the angles from which you can take photographs. These design choices really increase playability. The tabs that were engineered to hold the removable wall in place are just some of the fine details that make this a top shelf piece.

We advise checking out Boutros77's Flickr page.  Drool worthy!

Grooves and a tab are present to keep the removable wall firmly in place when completely assembled.

The tab near the top locks the wall in position.
